Market Category Manager – Meetings & Events APAC Business Function: Procurement Plus (P+) Hiring Manager: Global Category Director Travel & Mobility Direct Reporting Line: Global Category Lead, Meetings & Events, Primary Location: Bangalore India, Career Level: 8 Job Schedule: Full time Target Start Date: 1st Sept 2026 Travel Requirement: No Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization: Lead and coordinate the Procurement Plus (P+) Travel & Mobility – Meetings & Events (M&E) category across the APAC market, driving alignment with global category strategy while delivering measurable value at the market level. The role is pivotal in enabling cost optimization, compliance, supplier performance, and consistent execution of global programs, while ensuring strong stakeholder alignment and business impact. What are we looking for? •Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Relevant Experience: 3–5 years of strategic procurement experience, including 2–4 years in Meetings & Events (M&E) sourcing within a Strategic Meetings Management (SMM) environment. • Procurement & Category Expertise: Strong understanding of sourcing lifecycle, contract negotiation, supplier management, and tender execution (RFP/RFQ), including drafting and negotiating contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). • Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge: Solid awareness of procurement-related legislation, subcontracting models, and third-party agency governance across markets. • Commercial & Analytical Acumen: Ability to interpret commercial proposals, develop pricing models, and perform data-driven analysis to support sourcing decisions and value delivery. • Strategic Sourcing & Category Management: Proven capability in category strategy execution, including supplier evaluation, cost optimization, and contract management with a solid grounding in contract law principles. • Negotiation & Influencing Skills: Strong negotiation and stakeholder influencing capabilities, with experience engaging senior internal stakeholders and external suppliers. •Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: • A degree with emphasis on the areas of business, economics, procurement, travel, or comparable professional education • At least 5 years of working experience in similar or adequate roles in a procurement environment, with international project and people management elements • Minimum 3 years of experience working with senior executives to implement and manage initiatives in a highly complex matrix organization Stakeholder & Supplier Management: Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to build trust, drive alignment, and manage cross-functional collaboration. • Leadership & Team Collaboration: Experience leading or coordinating small teams, with the ability to work effectively in a global, matrixed environment. • Planning & Execution Excellence: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and deliver high-quality outcomes independently. • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present insights and recommendations clearly and concisely.
Roles and Responsibilities: •1. Category Leadership & Strategic Alignment • Lead the M&E category at the market level, ensuring alignment with global P+ objectives and category strategy. • linking category initiatives to business priorities and value realization. Support localization of category strategies, market target setting. • Drive engagement with business stakeholders for supplier optimization, KPI adoption, and sourcing decisions. 2. Sourcing Execution & Commercial Delivery • Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing initiatives, including strategy development, RFx execution, supplier negotiations, award recommendations, and contract execution. • Oversee local M&E sourcing and procurement activities, ensuring compliance, commercial rigor, and optimal supplier selection. • Support regional and local negotiations aligned with global category frameworks. 3. Global Strategy Deployment & Governance • Drive the rollout and adoption of global category strategies, agreements, and initiatives within the APAC market. • Coordinate cross-regional and local resources to ensure effective implementation of global programs. • Enforce procurement governance and “procurement hygiene,” ensuring transparency, compliance, and process efficiency. • Promote adherence to preferred suppliers, contracts, and buying channels. 4. Supplier & Performance Management • Drive supplier performance management, including KPI tracking (cost savings, compliance, service levels) and continuous improvement. • Optimize the supplier base in collaboration with business stakeholders to enhance value, reduce risk, and improve efficiency. • Support supplier contract execution and ongoing performance governance. 5. Market Intelligence & Continuous Improvement • Conduct regional spend analysis to identify savings opportunities, demand patterns, and compliance gaps. • Monitor market trends, pricing benchmarks, and supplier innovations to drive category improvements. • Assess the impact of regulatory, policy, and market changes on category strategy and sourcing approach. • Benchmark category practices to identify and implement best-in-class improvements. 6. Stakeholder Management & Collaboration • Partner with senior business stakeholders to drive alignment, adoption of category strategies, and value delivery. • Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across global, regional, and local P+ and Travel & Mobility teams. • Support business objectives, including profitability and revenue enablement related to Meetings & Events.
