Senior Project Officer

About the role:

This position is a Fixed- Term, Full-time role till 30 June 2028.

The Senior Project Officer leads statewide initiatives to improve own-source revenue from services, including NWAU coding accuracy across Victorian health services. The role analyses activity, documentation and coding performance, identifies variation and revenue opportunities, and partners with health services to strengthen casemix integrity and funding outcomes. By providing expert advice, developing benchmarking insights, and supporting capability uplift, the position enhances the consistency, quality and financial impact of coded activity, helping ensure fair and accurate funding across the Victorian health system.

The Financial Improvement, Productivity & Capability team strengthens financial sustainability across Victorian health services by delivering benchmarking insights, optimising revenue, and leading targeted improvement projects.

About you:

Develops policy frameworks within area of expertise or responsibility based on defined organisational priorities

Applies complex concepts drawn from non-related fields to address policy issues

Routinely advises senior stakeholders on policy issues and solutions within a functional area

Qualifications/Specialist Expertise

An appropriate tertiary qualification in project management, health, accounting, commerce, economics, political science, public administration or public policy.

A high degree of understanding and knowledge of the Victorian budget processes, health system operations and funding, relevant departmental systems and environments is desirable.

Knowledge of the Victorian public hospital operations, and the impact of government funding, policy and reform on operations.
