Mercer is seeking candidates for the following position based in the London office:

Applications Developer

What can you expect?

This is a hands-on technical role focused on improving the robustness, stability, and performance of our technology systems. You will work across the technology platform, with an initial focus on data pipelines, helping to redesign and enhance data processes to make them more fault tolerant, scalable, and efficient. The role offers broad exposure to investment management data, systems, and the wider business.

We will count on you to:

Work closely with the Head of Production and support teams to identify areas for improvement

Learn our technology architecture and systems, with a focus on trading systems and the data lake used for regulatory reporting

Collaborate with the broader Engineering team to understand practices and architecture

Perform technical analysis to identify root causes of issues

Design and implement technical changes and improvements

Take part in coding and code reviews

Work closely with business teams as needed

What you need to have:

BSc or MSc in a financial, technological, mathematical, or scientific discipline, with a strong analytical foundation

Current experience with C# and Python and a passion for software development

Strong SQL skills

Experience in designing robust data flows and systems

Strong, clear, and concise communication skills, both verbal and written

A strong sense of responsibility and commitment to quality

Self-driven, motivated work ethic

Energetic and enthusiastic personality

What makes you stand out:

IMC or another investment management qualification

Experience with Apache Airflow

Experience with Databricks

Experience with asset management data

Passion for design and architecture
