Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our development team at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi. The ideal candidate will be part of a dynamic team developing and maintaining mission-critical applications with a focus on geospatial technologies. This position offers opportunities to work with cutting-edge technologies while solving complex engineering challenges in support of our government clients.
The Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex software systems, with a particular emphasis on geospatial applications.
Key responsibilities include:
Design and develop robust, scalable software solutions
Write high-quality, well-tested code following best practices
Integrate GIS components and spatial data into applications
Participate in the full software development lifecycle
Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance
Debug and optimize application performance
Create and maintain technical documentation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams
Implement automated testing strategies
Support deployment and maintenance of applications
Participate in Agile development processes
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
5+ years of software engineering experience
Strong background in object-oriented programming
Experience with GIS software development
Track record of successful software project delivery
Required Skills and Competencies:
Strong proficiency in:
Java, Python, C++, or similar programming languages
Object-oriented design patterns
Software architecture principles
Version control systems (Git)
Database design and SQL
RESTful API design and implementation
Demonstrated experience with:
Geographic Information Systems (GIS), specifically:
Commercial Joint Mapping Toolkit (CJMTK)
ESRI ArcGIS suite of commercial software developer components
ArcGIS Runtime
ArcGIS Engine
ArcGIS extensions including:
3-D Analyst
Geostatistical Analyst
Network Analyst
Spatial Analyst
Tracking Analyst
ArcGIS Server
Proficiency in:
Software testing methodologies
CI/CD practices
Application security principles
Web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Experience with Agile development methodologies
Must be able to work on-site at Stennis Space Center, MS
