We are seeking a number of experienced Project Managers to support the development, construction, commissioning and delivery of engineering projects. The successful candidate will have at least 10 years’ relevant project management experience, ideally within the electricity industry.

In support of ESB’s strategic objectives of decarbonising electricity, building resilient infrastructure and empowering clients, you will lead the effective delivery of major electricity infrastructure projects from capital approval through to asset handover.

The Project Manager will help ensure projects are delivered safely, consistently and to the required standards, including oversight of contractor performance, contestable project delivery and successful connection to the national grid, programme milestones, resourcing, quality and commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of major projects through a multi-disciplinary team, applying ESB’s Project Management Methodology.

Manage the transition of projects from development stage through to full construction and completion.

Provide regular progress updates, recommendations and key actions to the Network Project Delivery Manager.

Manage the business case throughout project development and construction, ensuring alignment with time, cost, scope and quality objectives.

Coordinate project deliverables and stakeholder inputs across internal teams, external partners and relevant delivery stakeholders.

Maintain effective relationships with delivery partners and manage contractor performance, including through contestable delivery models.

Oversee project quality, including design review and due diligence for Contestable Delivered Projects and asset handover to ensure completed assets meet required standards.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

Ten or more years’ relevant experience, including at least six years in project management or project delivery, ideally within the electricity industry.

A Level 8 degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.

Strong understanding of electricity infrastructure construction and commissioning.

Demonstrated ability to deliver safely and effectively against time, cost, quality and scope objectives.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a complex project environment.

Effective communication, stakeholder engagement and report writing skills.

Flexible and customer-focused approach to work.

Desirable

Experience delivering large-scale or complex infrastructure projects or programmes.

Experience in HV cable, substation or overhead line construction and commissioning.

Experience managing contractors and/or contract delivery partners.

PSDP/PSCS competency, or equivalent construction design and management competency.

Experience in electricity infrastructure construction management.

Project management qualification and/or relevant business management qualification.

Location

This position will be based in our Sidings office in Dublin 2 or in our Eastgate office in Cork. Travel to site nationwide will be an important part of this role.
