Your Contribution

This position is primarily responsible for supporting MAHLE Engine Components plants in Japan (3 sites), Thailand (1 site), China (4 sites), and India (2 sites) by promoting best practices in casting and machining production/manufacturing engineering. The primary work location is Okegawa-shi, Saitama Prefecture, with regular business trips to plants across the Asia Pacific region.

Guide the plant personnel to ensure appropriate Process Technology and Production Systems are specified and installed, and assets are used productively and in line with customer demands.

Provide advice to the plants for the development and implementation of low cost, high OEE equipment along with complementary systems and training to ensure line output and productivity are maximized, scrap rates and customer complaints are minimized, and robust monitoring, root cause and corrective action systems, MPS, TPM, poke yoke, kanban, and general lean manufacturing systems are fully understood and implemented.

Monitor scrap and productivity and identify areas for improvement based on benchmarking and trend analysis. Support the plants to implement the identified improvements and build in lessons learnt.

Follow up and encourage continuous improvement projects and ensure the ideas are shared and implemented in other plants across the regions.

Instigate and/or actively support cost reduction, process and efficiency optimization, and problem solving etc.

Assess the capability and competences of the engineering teams. Help to organize the creation of training and development plans, along with mentoring and appropriate training (internal, external, domestic and at other MAHLE plants) to develop competent, professional, local engineering teams.

Support plants for customer audits, customer complaints and in new business development.

Your experience & Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Degree in Production, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering

At least 15 years of practical experience in metal casting and machining

Experience in aluminium casting or metal part machining

Proven track record of over 3 years in team leadership and management

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in an international environment

Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written)

Ability to work in Okegawa-shi, Saitama, Japan

Willingness to travel regularly within the Asia Pacific region

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of aluminium gravity casting

Experience in piston manufacturing
