Manager, Controls Assurance - Finance
Role purpose
Controls Assurance (CA) within GCCOO assures the risk management of critical business processes, primarily by testing mitigating controls. We’re building a centralised capability that delivers agile, insightful, and cost-efficient assurance, working alongside Automation and Analytics teams to progress Continuous Assurance objectives. This role sits within a global reporting structure, delivering global reviews with a strategic focus on Mexico.
You’ll deliver autonomous, high-quality assessments of key control activities in line with CA procedures and the global assessment plan. This includes testing design and operating effectiveness, including SOX controls where applicable.
Main activities
Execute and document control testing (design and operating effectiveness), tailoring standard test scripts to the local context.
Identify control gaps, raise issues/findings, and ensure they’re recorded accurately and on time.
Ensure quality and timely delivery, meeting internal deadlines and quality control requirements.
Manage stakeholders (control owners and relevant teams), keeping communication open and reducing unnecessary rework.
Support strong documentation standards, including ensuring appropriate root cause analysis and remediation plans for material issues.
Support the VP GCCOO Mexico with review planning, issue drafting, and continuous improvement of procedures/templates.
Look for innovative and efficient ways to test controls, using data and analytics where possible.
Requirements
3–5 years of proven experience in assurance, audit, SOX compliance, or risk management (financial services or other large corporate industries).
Advanced English, written and spoken (mandatory due to global reporting).
Solid understanding of Retail banking risk management, especially Credit Cards and Unsecured Personal Lending portfolios (awareness of the end-to-end credit cycle in Retail and Wholesale is a plus).
Highly autonomous, strong time management, and a track record of meeting strict deadlines without close supervision.
Clear, polished communication skills, with the ability to challenge, assess, and explain business processes to regional and global stakeholders.
Nice to have
Experience with assurance automation or analytics tools.
Awareness of analytics and basic programming; a data-driven mindset.
Proactive, quick learner, and strong ethical values.
