About the role

Company Description

Prelude is the only R&D platform built exclusively for animal health and nutrition. Our mission is to accelerate the development of life-saving medicines, devices, and nutrition for animals through smarter technology and superior service. Study designs are becoming more complex every year, making research more daunting and labor-intensive for animal health R&D teams. Prelude's platform makes complex research easy with the industry's most flexible, user-friendly technology, purpose-built for animal health studies.

Role Description

Prelude is seeking a highly motivated Product Manager to join our team in a full-time, on-site (hybrid) capacity. This is an individual contributor role on a lean team. Your work ships directly into the hands of clinical researchers, and you'll own your surface areas end to end, from discovery through release. The right candidate brings hands-on prototyping and design skills, the ability to move from idea to tangible mockup quickly, and exceptional communication, written and verbal, to translate complex requirements across engineering, customers, and leadership. We're a small, fast-moving team that expects everyone to actively leverage AI to work smarter.

Responsibilities

Product Strategy and Roadmap

Provide input into the product roadmap based on research, feedback, and business goals

Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and execution of the company’s goals

Become the subject matter expert for the product

Comfortable supporting sales and marketing efforts, including participating in product demos, preparing demo environments, and equipping the team with accurate, up-to-date product knowledge

Product Requirements and Prioritization

Gather and analyze customer needs, market trends, and competitive intelligence to inform product decisions

Write detailed product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria

Prioritize features and enhancements based on business value, customer impact, and technical feasibility

Prototyping and Design

Create interactive prototypes to communicate product concepts to engineering, design, and stakeholders

Use tools such as Figma (or equivalent) to produce mockups that accelerate feedback cycles and reduce ambiguity in handoffs

Conduct usability reviews of prototypes before development begins

AI-Assisted Workflows

Actively use AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Notion AI, or similar) to accelerate documentation, research synthesis, and product analysis

Identify and evaluate opportunities to embed AI capabilities directly into the product — from intelligent defaults and workflow automation to surfacing insights for end users

Stay current on emerging AI capabilities relevant to product management and advocate for their adoption within the team

Product Development and Launch

Work closely with engineering and design teams to deliver high-quality software products

Participate in agile development processes including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release management

Monitor testing of features and fixes so that the version release plan is on track

Conduct UAT of features

Own documentation for release notes, knowledge base content, and applicable SOPs

Provide internal training for each product release

Product Performance and Optimization

Gather feedback from customers and stakeholders to continuously iterate and improve the product

Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and customer interviews to inform product strategy and decision-making

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Design, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience a plus

Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate customer needs and market insights into actionable product plans

Hands-on experience with prototyping tools (Figma strongly preferred; Balsamiq, Sketch, or similar accepted)

Active, practical use of AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) to accelerate work

Experience working in an agile development environment with a deep understanding of agile methodologies and best practices

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively influence and align cross-functional teams

Influences without authority and collaborates respectfully across functions

Passion for technology and innovation, with a customer-centric mindset and a commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences
