Marketing Director, Hill’s-Colgate Japan

In today's dynamic retail environment, it is an exciting time to be a part of the Marketing team at Hill’s Pet Nutrition. Our highly energetic and focused Marketing Team is dedicated to driving growth for the company in this ever-changing landscape. What role will you play as a member of the Hill’s-Colgate team?

As the Marketing Director, you are responsible for the overall marketing and communication strategy including branding and image of the subsidiary. As a member of the Leadership team you will align with other Function Heads to achieve business objectives and you’ll guide the day-to-day activities of the marketing team. You'll review changes to the market trends, the consumer trends & needs, the competitive activities and adjust the marketing plan to the best output. You are the key person to build strategies and empower people in achieving profitable business growth, funding growth and/or new product development. You'll also advise, counsel and direct subordinates in the formulation of marketing plans and the establishment of budget and profit plans. You'll keep senior management informed of problems and opportunities with sufficient lead-time to impact decisions. You'll also be taking a leadership role outside of marketing responsibility to help the company achieve goals, i.e. leading cross-functional teams for company initiatives, participating in talent planning discussions, etc.

What you will do

Define marketing and 6-P strategies, priorities, tactics and investment plans for the brands – Science Diet, Prescription diet and Science Diet Pro

Monitor and review project progress and timelines; adjusting resource schedules and plans as needed, and identifying and resolving issues to ensure project success

Continually review changes to the market, consumer trends and the activities of competitors, adjusting the marketing plan

Manage brand P&L’s to drive top and bottom line growth, including Advertising & Promotion investment. Strategies and plans by brand and channel and NVO expenses

Develop and mentor team members to drive effectiveness, cross functional relationships and prepare the company’s future leaders

Direct and own our media plans across the awareness funnel to attract new users to the brand

Partner with cross-functional team members including customer development, professional vet affairs, and finance and supply chain to drive volume, share and profit and the development and execution of annual marketing plans for mass/pet/breeder/vet retail segment.

Lead GTM planning and the development and execution of marketing plans to drive mass (home center, supermarket, GMS, drug, convenience), traditional pet retailer, breeder and vet clinics volume/share/profit performance and growth

Evaluate the ROI on marketing activities and analyze business performance and provide recommendations to take advantage of key issues and opportunities

Understand and act upon marketplace/key competitive developments and utilize consumer/shopper insights to drive annual business plans. Monitor and recommend programming to respond to and leverage competition.

Manage advertising and promotion agencies and budgets to drive effectiveness, efficiencies and brand equity.

Have dotted-line responsibility for Japan consumer insights and consumer affairs functions

Required Qualifications

10 + years of experience in consumer packaged goods marketing with a multinational company

Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing, economics or mathematics

Demonstrated ability to develop people and advance them and to develop cross-organizational relationships

Consistent track record achieving brand, financial, sales & business goals

Proven ability to manage multiple brands and product launch(es)

Self Driven Professional willing to develop and grow in a fast changing environment

Proficient in Japanese and English

Preferred Qualifications

MBA and international marketing experience preferred

Excellent organizational, strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail

Strong project management skills

Dedication, goal orientation and ability to meet strict deadlines

Result-driven, with a high level of motivation and persistence

Knowledge of Digital Media and Digital tools a plus

Microsoft Office or Google Suite proficiency (i.e, Sheets, Slides, Docs) preferred
