Job Description
The Assistant Designer, Graphics, will support the creation of unique, original, and engaging graphics and art for use in the production of Indigo products, packaging, and other internal initiatives. This role collaborates closely with internal packaging and senior graphic designer(s) to ensure the Indigo brand is communicated in a strong, consistent manner that inspires and engages our customers. The support will engage in design execution from conception to pre-production approvals.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Functional
Assist in the design and creation of impactful graphics, typography and artwork for proprietary products, packaging and other initiatives, as directed
Collaborate with design leads on original creative concepts that meet the given project's overall objectives and support the brand’s creative and visual guidelines
Responsible for graphics and artwork from inception to final product, resizing and reformatting images; packaging, typography and artwork for private brand studio and hybrid packaging projects.
As needed, research and recommend stock illustrations and patterns for purchase. Retouch and re-colour purchased prints and images to ensure cohesion with the season’s concept and brand aesthetic
Keep up-to-date and informed of emerging trends, ensuring Indigo’s packaging and graphics artwork meet the highest design, quality and content standards
Prioritize creative demands to execute against deliverables in a timely manner

Qualifications
Work Experience / Education / Certifications
Post-secondary degree or diploma in graphic design or a design-related field
Minimum 1 year of experience designing for retail is considered an asset
Competencies / Skills / Attributes
Thorough understanding and ability in graphic design, page layout and typography
Knowledge in graphics manipulation using the following software: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Procreate
Strong conceptual skills
Self-motivator with a passion for graphic design
Dynamic, driven, good listener, team-oriented, with the ability to handle and learn from constructive criticism
Exceptional communication skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and responding to shifting priorities
Branding and package design experience an asset
