Associate Technician

Overview:

Element has an opportunity for a Test Technician to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team in one of the various laboratories across Element, the Associate Test Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring systems at project sites.

Carry out routine field monitoring works, including settlement, vibration, tilt, groundwater level, and ground/structural deformation measurements.

Record, verify, and maintain accurate monitoring data in accordance with project procedures and requirements.

Support engineers and surveyors in site investigations, instrument inspections, and data collection activities.

Conduct regular checks on instruments and site conditions to ensure proper functionality and reliability of equipment.

Report abnormal readings, equipment defects, or site-related issues promptly to the supervising engineer or designated personnel.

Ensure all monitoring activities are carried out in compliance with site safety regulations and company procedures.

Skills / Qualifications:

Basic knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles (soil behavior, settlement, groundwater)

Familiarity with monitoring instruments (inclinometers, piezometers, extensometers, settlement markers, data loggers)

Ability to assist in the installation and maintenance of instruments

Basic understanding of site surveying and reading engineering drawings

Able to collect, record, and check field monitoring data accurately

Basic Excel skills for data entry and reporting

Awareness of construction site safety requirements and procedures

Physically fit for outdoor and construction site work

Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

Team player with a willingness to learn and improve technical skills

Willingness and ability to work night shifts when required, depending on project and site requirements.
