Role Summary
The Factory Manager will be responsible for managing the complete day-to-day operations of the Boisar factory. The role involves supervising all factory departments, ensuring smooth production, proper manpower utilisation, inventory accuracy, quality control, statutory compliance, safety, maintenance, accounts coordination and timely dispatches.
The Factory Manager will be accountable for ensuring that the factory runs efficiently, safely and in line with company standards. The person should be hands-on, disciplined, process-driven and capable of coordinating with multiple departments to ensure smooth functioning.
Key Responsibilities
1. Overall Factory Operations Management
Take complete ownership of day-to-day factory operations.
Ensure smooth coordination between production, warehouse, quality, maintenance, accounts, administration and dispatch teams.
Monitor daily factory activities and ensure work is happening as per plan.
Ensure proper implementation of company policies, systems and SOPs at the factory level.
Identify operational gaps and take corrective action wherever required.
Ensure timely reporting of factory performance, issues and pending matters to management.
Act as the single-point coordinator for all factory-related matters.
2. Production Planning & Execution
Oversee daily, weekly and monthly production planning.
Ensure production is carried out as per approved plan, quality standards and timelines.
Monitor production output, productivity, machine utilisation and manpower efficiency.
Ensure proper allocation of manpower and machines for daily production.
Track production delays, bottlenecks, downtime and wastage.
Coordinate with purchase, inventory and warehouse teams to ensure required materials are available before production starts.
Ensure minimum wastage, rework and production loss.
Maintain production records and daily production reports.
3. Inventory & Material Management
Oversee raw material, packaging material, consumables, semi-finished goods and finished goods inventory.
Ensure accurate stock records are maintained at all times.
Monitor stock movement, stock ageing, shortages, excess inventory and dead stock.
Ensure proper stock reconciliation between physical stock and system stock.
Coordinate with purchase and warehouse teams for timely material availability.
Ensure proper storage, labelling and handling of materials.
Implement controls to avoid stock mismatch, pilferage, damage or expiry.
Review minimum stock levels and reorder requirements with the concerned teams.
4. Warehouse & Dispatch Coordination
Oversee warehouse operations and finished goods storage.
Ensure proper inward and outward movement of goods.
Monitor dispatch planning and ensure timely dispatches as per requirement.
Ensure correct documentation for dispatches, stock transfers and material movement.
Coordinate with logistics, transporters and internal teams for smooth movement of goods.
Ensure proper packing, labelling and dispatch accuracy.
Monitor pending dispatches and resolve delays proactively.
5. Manpower & Workforce Management
Supervise factory manpower across all departments and shifts.
Ensure optimum utilisation of labour, staff and supervisors.
Monitor attendance, punctuality, discipline and productivity of factory employees.
Ensure proper shift planning and manpower allocation.
Coordinate with HR for labour requirements, attendance, leaves, overtime and compliance.
Maintain discipline and work culture inside the factory.
Ensure supervisors and workers follow SOPs, safety norms and quality requirements.
Identify training needs for factory staff and coordinate with HR for training.
6. Quality Control & Process Discipline
Ensure production is carried out as per approved quality standards.
Coordinate with the quality team for inspection, testing and approvals.
Ensure no material is produced, packed or dispatched without required quality checks.
Monitor rejection, rework, customer complaints and quality deviations.
Implement corrective and preventive actions for quality issues.
Ensure proper documentation of quality checks and batch records wherever applicable.
Drive process discipline across production, warehouse and dispatch.
7. Machine Maintenance & Utility Management
Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure machines are running properly.
Monitor machine downtime, breakdowns and preventive maintenance schedules.
Ensure timely servicing and repair of machines, equipment and utilities.
Maintain records of machine maintenance, breakdowns and spare parts usage.
Ensure proper functioning of electricity, water, compressors, DG, HVAC or any other factory utilities.
Plan preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and production loss.
Ensure maintenance-related safety precautions are followed.
8. Compliance, Licenses & Factory Documentation
Ensure all statutory, labour, safety and factory-related compliances are followed.
Maintain proper records for licenses, permissions, registrations and renewals.
Coordinate with consultants, government authorities and internal teams wherever required.
Ensure compliance related to factory act, labour laws, fire safety, pollution control, health and safety, and other applicable requirements.
Maintain documentation for audits, inspections and statutory requirements.
Ensure timely closure of compliance observations or audit findings.
9. Accounts & Cost Control Coordination
Coordinate with the accounts team for factory-level expenses, petty cash, bills, vendor payments and documentation.
Ensure all factory expenses are properly recorded and approved as per process.
Monitor consumption of materials, wastage, overtime, maintenance cost and other factory costs.
Identify areas where cost can be reduced without affecting quality or output.
Ensure proper documentation for purchase, consumption, stock movement and expenses.
Support accounts team during stock audits, expense reviews and reconciliation.
10. Safety, Housekeeping & Factory Discipline
Ensure proper safety practices are followed across the factory.
Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and housekeeping standards in all factory areas.
Ensure workers use safety equipment wherever required.
Conduct regular checks for unsafe practices, hazards and process violations.
Ensure fire safety, emergency exits and safety equipment are maintained properly.
Promote a disciplined and safe working environment.
Ensure factory premises, stores, production areas and common areas are properly maintained.
11. Audits & Internal Controls
Conduct regular internal checks of production, inventory, warehouse and factory processes.
Prepare the factory for internal, external, statutory and customer audits.
Ensure audit-related documents are maintained properly.
Implement corrective and preventive actions based on audit observations.
Ensure proper control systems are in place for inventory, production, dispatch and manpower.
Report any irregularities, process gaps or compliance risks to management immediately.
12. Reporting & MIS
Prepare and share daily, weekly and monthly factory reports.
Track production output, manpower utilisation, downtime, wastage, stock levels, dispatch status and pending issues.
Share exception reports with management for delays, shortages, breakdowns, quality issues or compliance matters.
Maintain proper records and data for management review.
Ensure all reports are accurate, timely and actionable.
13. Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce wastage and improve factory efficiency.
Suggest process improvements and cost-saving ideas.
Implement better systems for production planning, stock control, manpower tracking and reporting.
Work towards improving factory discipline, accountability and operational efficiency.
Ensure factory processes become more structured and system-driven over time.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Engineering, Production, Manufacturing, Operations or related field.
7–12 years of experience in factory operations or factory management.
Experience in manufacturing industry is mandatory.
Experience in FMCG, cosmetics, food, plastics, packaging or consumer goods manufacturing will be preferred.
Strong understanding of production, inventory, warehouse, manpower and factory operations.
Good knowledge of factory compliances, audits and safety practices.
Ability to manage multiple departments and teams.
Strong leadership, coordination and problem-solving skills.
Good command over MS Excel, reporting and ERP systems.
Should be hands-on, disciplined and process-oriented.

The main objective of this role is to ensure that the Dailycare factory at Boisar runs smoothly, efficiently and in a controlled manner. The Factory Manager should take full ownership of factory operations and ensure that production, inventory, manpower, compliance, quality, dispatch and cost control are managed properly on a daily basis.
