People & Culture Business Partner

Downer Rail and Transit Systems (RTS) is committed to delivering high-quality Rollingstock & Overhaul services across the Australian market. We are currently seeking an experienced People & Culture Business Partner to join our team based at our Spotswood site .

This role is responsible for providing business partnering support to Melbourne-based operational and support teams, with a strong focus on workforce development and change management. You will work closely with specialist HR functions—including recruitment, learning & development, and industrial relations—to deliver seamless, end-to-end support across the employee lifecycle.

As the P&C Business Partner, you will contribute to the development and implementation of people strategies that add value to the business. You will support leaders to manage and facilitate change initiatives, while providing coaching and guidance to managers and employees.

This role will involve occasional travel to other Melbourne sites and the CBD.

ABOUT YOU

Minimum 3 years’ experience, with tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline

Experience supporting operational leaders, including interpretation of Enterprise Agreements and industrial instruments

Background in blue-collar or operational environments preffered

Experience in case management and workplace investigations

Strong knowledge of contemporary HR practices and relevant legislation (e.g. Fair Work Act, workers’ compensation, anti-discrimination)

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively
