Specific Duties

To carry out all duties in line with departmental Standards Manual (Leading Quality Assurance) and ensure that the Night Porter checklist is fully completed by the end of the shift

To carry out fire walks in accordance with night operation and guest safety in mind and to be fully conversant with the fire procedures for the whole hotel including assistance in the fire evacuation as directed by the night manager.

To carry out cleaning duties as requested by the night manager (vacuuming, buffing and cleaning all public areas e.g. lobby, bar, restaurant and public toilets)

To be fully aware of any menu updates

To take and carry out room service orders. Preparation of food and beverages to all guests during the night, to their bedrooms or in lobby areas

To be knowledgeable and informed about the introduction of new products and new procedures

To carry out wake up calls when required

To deliver all guests newspapers in the morning

To supply additional items to guest bedrooms eg. Cots, pillows, etc.

Organise onward transportation for the guests and to carry guests luggage to and from bedrooms

Yo valet park and retrieve guest cars from car park

To liaise with other departments to ensure that all guest requests are attended to efficiently.

To carry out any other reasonable tasks as requested by management

General responsibilities

To ensure the hotel achieves the Leading Hotels of the World Quality Assurance targets and that the highest standards of luxury and quality delivered consistently to our guests.

To deliver excellent care to our guests

To have an understanding of the Hotel’s Vision & Mission statement as communicated to the team

To ensure that areas of responsibility are clean and well maintained and cleaning checklists are adhered to

To report defective materials and equipment to the appropriate Departments.

To ensure that the ambience in departments (lights, music and temperature) are controlled.

To be vigilant throughout the Hotel to promote security.

To have strong product knowledge of all areas of the hotel.

To accept a flexible work schedule necessary for uninterrupted service to Hotel guests and to maintain flexibility within teams.

To provide support where necessary in other areas of the Hotel.

People

To attend appraisal reviews when requested by Night Manager

To understand and comply with the hotel’s employee handbook

To attend departmental daily briefings

To attend monthly departmental meetings/ General Team Meetings, ECCM when required.

To adhere to the hotel’s grooming procedures.

To clock in and out of the Timepoint at the start and finish of each shift and for breaks. To inform your manager if you did not receive your break entitlement.

References

MUST have the right to work in Ireland / EU part time, can consider Stamp 2.
