About the role:
This is an individual contributor role responsible for supporting data assurance, governance, integrity of investment data across the investment and/or accounting systems for the general accounts, and all SLC institutional clients, private wealth accounts for SLC’s Fixed Income Business. Data Operations is a function within the Data Assurance and Reconciliations group. This group is part of the Investment Solutions & Controls pillar of SLC Trade Operations at SLC Management. The successful candidate will need to possess the ability to operate within a deadline driven environment and deliver exceptional client service. Strong interpersonal skills are required due to frequent interaction with counterparties as well as internal business Partners such as Front Desk, Deal management, Middle Office, Asset Management, Portfolio Management, Controllership, IT, Vendors, etc.
This role requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, and leadership abilities to maintain high standards of data integrity in investment operations. The person will also participate in training (the rolling out of new / revised processes), projects and other new initiatives as required and actively contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement data quality control processes and procedures
Conduct regular reviews of investment data to identify discrepancies and errors
Collaborate with various teams to resolve data integrity issues and implement improvements
Support the maintenance of documentation for data integrity processes and standards
Develop and run reports to monitor data quality metrics
Participate in data governance initiatives
Train and mentor junior team members on data integrity best practices
Partner with other areas like Front Desk, Deal management, Middle Office, Asset Management, Portfolio Management, Controllership, IT, Vendors to solve issues that impact data quality, reporting, and downstream systems.
Identify and understand issues with valuation, accounting, investment systems and other tools; find solutions to fix them closely working with vendors, IT and other related parties
Education, Required Skills and Competencies
BS Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related discipline / Master’s degree is a plus
5-8 years of experience in investment operations, data analysis, or related role
Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) is preferred
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to investment data
Familiarity with SQL and data manipulation techniques
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience with accounting and investment management systems
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Deadline oriented, self-motivated and capable of handling conflicting priorities
Systems oriented with a proven ability to enhance processes through systems improvements
Excel proficiency - ability to create, manipulate and interpret data/spreadsheets; comfortable working with formulas, V-lookups, pivot tables, power queries, etc.
Business acumen and decision-making – able to make sound decisions and take effective and timely action that fully reflects the business purpose implications and context of the work produced and/or managed
Leadership Skills – Able to meet the demands of a diverse constituent base and partner with other areas to resolve issues in an efficient and effective manner
Aptitude for problem solving – able to assess situations through analysis and observation and develop supportable solutions
Client obsessed, act with speed and have an owner's mindset
Ability to work well with others with a strong collaborative approach to build and maintain both internal and external relationships
Note:
The shift starts at 3:30 PM IST, however more overlap with North America will be required during the onboarding process and peak times – month-end, quarter-end and year-end
Certain days during the month/year may not be eligible for vacation days, specifically around month-end, quarter-end and year-end
Rotation coverage for Canadian Statutory holidays
