Job Description:
The Asset Servicing team within Trading Operations is responsible for the administration of SLC Management’s global derivatives portfolio across a wide range of institutional clients, including Sun Life’s general account. The portfolio includes cleared and bilateral instruments such as interest rate swaps, cross-currency swaps, credit derivatives, equity derivatives, futures, options, FX forwards, and total return products.
The Lead Analyst plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operational lifecycle of derivative transactions. The role works closely with front-office trading, portfolio management, treasury, accounting, and external counterparties to ensure accurate, timely, and controlled execution of derivative operations .
Key Responsibilities
Trade Support & Lifecycle Management
Support end-to-end lifecycle processing of derivative transactions including validation, confirmations, and issue resolution
Ensure accuracy and completeness of trade capture across systems
Investigate and resolve trade discrepancies
Reconciliation & Break Resolution
Perform daily reconciliation of derivative positions and cash activity
Investigate and resolve breaks across systems, counterparties, and custodians
Reconcile bank activity to system records
Settlement Oversight & Cash Management
Oversee settlement of listed and OTC derivative transactions
Resolve settlement breaks, fails, and discrepancies
Monitor overdraft exposures and escalate funding risks
Prepare daily cash forecasts and support Treasury
Produce settlement and overdraft reporting
Systems & Data Integrity
Process transactions in systems such as Aladdin and Summit
Review legal confirmations for accuracy
Maintain data integrity across systems
Risk, Controls & Audit Support
Support internal controls and operational procedures
Respond to audit requests and provide documentation
Identify and escalate operational risks
Stakeholder Management
Act as a key contact between front office, risk, treasury, and external parties
Resolve trade and settlement inquiries
Continuous Improvement
Participate in process improvement and automation initiatives
Support system enhancements
Education, Required Skills and Competencies
BS Degree in Finance, Economics, or related discipline / Master’s degree is a plus
5-8 years of derivatives operations or asset servicing experience
Strong understanding of derivative instruments and lifecycle
Experience with systems such as Aladdin, Summit, Bloomberg
Proficiency in Excel, experience with pivot tables, VLOOKUP and macros a plus
Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Knowledge of Aladdin is a plus
Note:
The shift starts at 3:30 PM IST, however more overlap with North America will be required during the onboarding process and peak times – month-end, quarter-end and year-end
Certain days during the month/year may not be eligible for vacation days, specifically around month-end, quarter-end and year-end
Rotation coverage for Canadian Statutory holidays
