About the Role
The Principal Mechanical Engineer will lean on extensive industry experience to ensure all engineering project work complies with statutory and regulatory requirements and company policies and practices. Additionally, the Principal Mechanical Engineer will drive growth of overall discipline capability in line with business strategies and targets. The Principal Mechanical Engineer will liase with Department Managers, Project Managers, Study Managers, other engineering Discipline Principals/Leads, Designers and the broader engineering team to oversee and deliver engineering work product and strategic growth initiatives. The successful incumbent can envision themselves attending to duties such as:
Review, approve and govern mechanical engineering deliverables (concept through to EPCM)
Solve complex technical challenges across mineral processing projects
Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring across the engineering team
Ensure compliance with statutory, safety and design standards (SiD / HSEC)
About You
Degree in Mechanical Engineering + Chartered / RPEQ (highly regarded)
15+ years’ experience in mining / mineral processing design environments
Strong experience across study phases: Concept Feasibility Detailed Design EPCM
Demonstrated leadership in mentoring and developing engineering teams
Deep expertise in wet plant design (pumping, piping, slurry systems)
Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment selection and plant layout
Proven capability in technical reviews, calculations and specifications
Experience with HAZIDs, HAZOPs and engineering risk reviews
