What you'll bring to the team
Key Accountabilities
Keep guest-facing and back-of-house technical systems safe, available, compliant and maintained to agreed standards.
Lead PPM, statutory inspections, defect management and asset lifecycle planning.
Plan and evidence compliance with relevant Singapore licensing, SCDF fire-safety, EMA/LEW and landlord/building requirements.
Drive a proactive safety culture across technical work, contractors, projects and daily operations.
Support new displays, seasonal features, events, refurbishments and capex projects with strong planning, risk control, cost discipline and handover.
Develop team capability, coverage, training and safe working practices.
Safety, Compliance and Risk Management
Maintain compliance with Merlin Health, Safety & Security policies, site procedures and local requirements.
Own the technical compliance calendar for statutory inspections, certifications, permits and required testing.
Ensure risk assessments, method statements, permits-to-work and safe systems of work are completed and followed.
Ensure incidents, near misses, hazards and defects are reported, investigated and closed on time.
Keep accurate, audit-ready records for inspections, maintenance, defects, modifications, contractors, training and sign-offs.
Act immediately to make safe any equipment, area or process presenting risk to guests, employees, contractors or the business.
Maintenance and Asset Reliability
Deliver daily technical opening and closing checks.
Maintain building fabric, M&E, lighting, AV/show systems, interactive exhibits, effects, wax figure environments, workshops, tools and equipment.
Ensure tools and equipment are serviceable, safely stored, calibrated where required and available for operational needs.
Maintain humidity, temperature and environmental controls to protect wax figures, sets, technology and guest comfort.
Track asset condition, recurring defects and downtime; implement root-cause fixes.
Maintain sufficient spares, consumables and backup equipment to support safe operation and reduce downtime.
Show, Display and Guest Experience Support
Ensure lighting, audio, visual, effects and interactive systems deliver a high-quality visitor experience.
Maintain wax figure displays, sets, props, show scenes and guest-facing effects to required presentation standards.
Respond quickly to defects, prioritising safety, guest impact, business impact and compliance risk.
Partner with Operations, Studio and Growth teams on launches, seasonal activations, VIP visits and trading peaks.
Ensure adequate technical cover during opening hours, peak periods, weekends and public holidays.
Contractor, Vendor and Landlord Management
Manage contractors and service providers for safe work, quality delivery, value for money and site-rule compliance.
Coordinate with landlord/building management and external parties on building systems, access, shutdowns, permits, inspections and emergency interfaces.
Ensure contractors are inducted, supervised and accountable for safe systems, quality, documentation and timely completion.
Challenge contractor recommendations where appropriate and seek alternatives without compromising safety or compliance.
Budget, Procurement and Projects
Manage maintenance budgets, repair spend, consumables, equipment hire, service contracts and shutdown expenditure.
Support capex planning and deliver assigned technical projects, refurbishments, displays and upgrades from scope to handover.
Maintain spares and consumables inventory to reduce downtime and improve spend predictability.
Ensure project works include risk assessment, operational readiness, staff training, documentation and post-launch support.
Identify cost-effective maintenance and replacement solutions while protecting safety, compliance, show quality and guest experience.
People Leadership
Lead, coach and develop the technical team with clear priorities, performance expectations and safety standards.
Plan rotas, leave cover, training, competency records and deputising arrangements for safe, effective coverage.
Ensure the team has the skills, tools, PPE and confidence to work safely and effectively.
Build collaboration with the wider attraction management team and share technical knowledge in a service-oriented way.
Promote ownership, risk awareness and continuous improvement within the team.
Decision Making and Autonomy
Prioritises maintenance, defect rectification and technical response based on safety, compliance and guest/business impact.
Approves routine technical work, contractor attendance and maintenance spend within delegated authority.
Escalates immediately to the General Manager and relevant stakeholders where risks exceed competence, budget authority, compliance thresholds or business continuity tolerance.
Can stop work or restrict use of equipment, displays or areas where safety or compliance is compromised.
Qualifications & Experience
About you - Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Diploma in a related field, with relevant foundational knowledge.
At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, including exposure to leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
Proven technical/facilities leadership experience in a visitor attraction, entertainment, hospitality, retail, leisure, museum, theatre, F&B complex or similar high-footfall environment.
Strong working knowledge of M&E, building fabric, AV/show systems, lighting, control systems, fire/life-safety systems and contractor management.
Good understanding of Singapore safety and facilities compliance; experience with SCDF, EMA/LEW, licensing authorities, landlords or building management is highly desirable.
Electrical, mechanical, facilities management, building services or engineering qualification preferred; relevant hands-on trade background considered.
Experience managing maintenance budgets, service contracts, shutdowns and small-to-medium technical projects/capex works.
Strong safety mindset, practical problem-solving, disciplined documentation and calm incident response.
Able to coach technicians, set standards, manage performance and build cross-functional trust.
Fluent English required; additional local languages commonly used in Singapore operations are advantageous.
Able to work weekends, public holidays, early mornings, evenings or emergency call-outs as required.
