ABOUT PURELY ENERGY
Purely Energy is a B Corp certified business energy broker, helping businesses across the UK secure smarter energy contracts through transparent, expert-led advice. We work with a network of over 30 leading suppliers and back our service with proprietary energy monitoring software that helps clients reduce consumption and costs well beyond the initial contract.
Our Newcastle office is a key part of our growth plan, and we are now looking for a Sales Manager to take ownership of it: building out the team, driving performance, and scaling the operation into a high-performing regional hub.
THE ROLE
This is a hands-on leadership role with a clear remit: build and scale our Newcastle office. You will inherit a mixed team of lead generators and energy consultants and be responsible for growing both functions, sharpening performance, and turning Newcastle into a benchmark site for the wider business.
You will be involved in everything from hiring and onboarding to coaching, KPI management, and process improvement. You will work closely with senior leadership on commercial strategy and reporting, and act as the senior presence on the ground in Newcastle.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Team Leadership and Growth
Leading the Newcastle team day-to-day, covering both lead generation and energy consultant functions.
Recruiting, onboarding, and developing new hires as the office scales.
Coaching team members one-to-one and through structured training sessions, building a culture of accountability and high performance.
Setting clear KPIs and managing performance against them, intervening early where standards are not being met.
Sales Performance and Strategy
Owning the Newcastle office's sales targets and reporting on performance to senior leadership.
Building and refining the sales process, from initial outbound contact through to closing and account management.
Supporting the team on complex deals where senior input adds value.
Identifying opportunities to improve conversion, pipeline quality, and revenue per consultant.
Office and Operations
Acting as the senior point of contact for the Newcastle office, representing it to the wider business.
Working with central functions on recruitment, marketing, and operational support.
Contributing to the wider commercial strategy as the Newcastle office grows.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
At least 2 years' experience in sales management or a comparable leadership role, ideally in B2B sales.
A track record of building, developing, or scaling sales teams.
Strong coaching instincts and the ability to bring the best out of people at different stages of their careers.
Commercially sharp, comfortable with KPIs, forecasting, and performance reporting.
Confident operating with autonomy and acting as the senior presence in a regional office.
Experience in energy broking, utilities, or a similar advisory sales environment is preferred but not essential.
Professional, articulate, and credible with both team members and senior stakeholders.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU
Competitive basic salary, dependent on experience.
Performance-based commission and bonus structure linked to team and office performance.
A genuine build opportunity: real ownership of the Newcastle office and visible influence on how it grows.
Paid birthday leave.
Team incentives and performance-based rewards, including trips away for top performers.
Company pension scheme.
Free on-site parking.
Company events and a supportive team environment.
Real career progression within a growing, B Corp certified business.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
Must live within a reasonable commutable distance from NE2 1BP. This is an office-based role.
