About this Role:
Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group, LLC (QISG), a Quanta Services, Inc. company (NYSE: PWR) is looking for an Estimator – is responsible for supporting the preparation of comprehensive project cost estimates for data center construction projects. Working under the direction of the Senior Estimator, this role focuses primarily on learning and performing electrical quantity takeoffs, NECA labor productivity research and application, historical cost tracking, and template development with preconstruction and operating unit teams. While electrical estimating is the core function, the ideal candidate will bring – or be eager to develop – a working familiarity with MEP disciplines broadly and foundational awareness of Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) concepts, enabling effective communication with Op Us contributing to those scopes. The ideal candidate brings analytical curiosity, a willingness to learn complex building systems, and a desire to grow into an independent estimator within the data center market.
This is an onsite position based in Houston, TX or one of the regional office locations.
What You'll Do:
Duties & Responsibilities
Learn and perform electrical quantity takeoffs from construction drawings, single-line diagrams, and specifications for data center projects (MV/LV distribution, switchgear, UPS, generator, PDU, cable tray, conduit, etc.) under the direction of the Senior Estimator
Under the guidance of the Senior Estimator, learn to research and apply NECA Manual of Labor Units (MLU) and RS Means labor productivities to estimate electrical installation labor hours across all scopes, with a focus on developing the judgment to refine factors based on project-specific conditions
Assist the Senior Estimator and preconstruction team in developing and maintaining standardized estimating templates specific to data center work, supporting coordination with Quanta operating units (Op Us) as directed
Under the direction of the Senior Estimator, learn to research, organize, and apply historical project cost data; contribute to building and maintaining a structured cost database to support future estimates and benchmarking
Assist the Senior Estimator in developing full project estimates within the InEight estimating platform, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
Shadow and support the Senior Estimator during coordination calls with scheduling, procurement, and Op U project teams; participate in local and regional bidding efforts in a learning and support capacity
Support the Senior Estimator in reviewing Request for Proposal (RFP) packages, drawings, and specifications to assist with scope identification, exceptions, and clarifications
Participate in site visits, scope review meetings, and internal bid reviews as required
Support the Senior Estimator in compiling data, populating report templates, and preparing summary information for management and stakeholder review
Support continuous improvement of estimating tools, workflows, and data organization practices
Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures; perform other duties as assigned
What You'll Bring:
Required Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Associate’s degree in Construction Technology, Electrical Technology, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience in a technical construction or estimating role
4–5 years of estimating experience on large-scale electrical construction or mission-critical projects
3+ years of estimating, project controls, or construction experience on MEP, mission-critical, or comparable electrical construction projects
Working knowledge of electrical construction means, methods, and materials
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, and construction specifications
Prior data center construction estimating experience (hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise)
Experience applying NECA Manual of Labor Units in a structured estimating workflow
Familiarity with InEight, Accubid, or similar estimating software platforms
Ability to break down construction scopes, ask the right questions, and follow logical frameworks to support cost development under senior guidance
Foundational understanding of electrical construction systems and equipment; familiarity with MEP concepts and eagerness to develop data center-specific technical knowledge over time
Willingness to learn and apply NECA MLU and RS Means labor productivity frameworks under senior direction; exposure to these resources through coursework or prior experience is a plus
Organized and detail-oriented approach to storing and retrieving project data; ability to maintain structured databases and records accurately as directed
Comfortable working within a team environment; able to engage professionally with preconstruction, engineering, and Op U team members in a support and learning capacity
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; working knowledge of Bluebeam Revu for quantity takeoffs is highly valued; familiarity with Procore, InEight, Accubid, or similar construction management and estimating platforms is a plus — training will be provided
Clear verbal and written communication skills; able to document work clearly, ask clarifying questions, and relay information accurately to senior team members
Genuine interest in learning data center construction, expanding estimating competencies, and growing into a well-rounded estimator within the data center market
Commitment to accuracy in quantity takeoff, pricing, and scope documentation
Self-starter who can manage workload and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
