Finance Executive (IBF Experience) at Singapore's leading AI training provider Full-time | Singapore | Finance | Onsite

The opportunity

Vertical Institute has trained over 50,000 professionals across B2C and B2B corporate engagements. That scale and breadth means the finance function here is genuinely interesting - you will work across multiple revenue streams and business models in a fast-moving environment that most finance roles at this level simply cannot offer.

We are looking for a Finance Executive to join a lean, high-calibre team reporting directly to the Head of Finance. This is a hands-on role with broad coverage - accounting, grants, operations, and business partnering - designed for someone who wants to build real depth across the full finance function early in their career, rather than spending years in a narrow specialisation.

This is a strong platform for someone with 2 to 4 years of experience who is ready to take on genuine ownership and work alongside finance leadership with Big Four backgrounds. If you want breadth, proximity to decision-makers, and a clear path upward, this role is worth a serious look.

What you will do

Accounting and financial reporting

Support the month-end close process: journal entries, reconciliations, and management accounts prepared accurately and on time.

Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for the external audit cycle.

Assist in the preparation of IRAS filings and statutory accounts.

Prepare financial reports and variance analyses with clear commentary for the Head of Finance and senior leadership.

Grants and revenue recognition

Support claims processing for government-funded programmes, working closely with the grants team to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Assist with revenue recognition across funded and non-funded cohorts, including deferred income tracking and accrual management.

Maintain documentation standards required for programme compliance and quality audits.

Help prepare responses to regulatory or funding body queries.

Operations and controls

Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments, learner account collections, and settlement queries.

Support the maintenance and improvement of internal financial controls and SOPs.

Process payroll and staff expense claims with accuracy and discretion.

Liaise with internal teams on billing, collections, and finance-related operational queries.

What we look for

We hire for ownership and attention to detail above all else. The following profiles fit well in this role:

Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CA qualified, or actively pursuing qualification.

2 to 4 years of relevant accounting or finance experience, in industry or public accounting.

Familiarity with government grant processes is a meaningful differentiator but not a requirement.

Hands-on with accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, or equivalent) and comfortable in Excel for reporting and reconciliation work.

Solid grounding in revenue recognition, deferred income, and accrual accounting.

Detail-oriented and self-directed - someone who spots discrepancies before they become problems and follows through without being chased.

Why this role

Strong leadership above you

Your direct manager is a former PwC professional and former CFO of a large MNC. The mentorship and technical standard-setting here is not typical for a company of this size.

Real breadth, early

Accounting, grants, operations, and business partnering - all in one role. Most executives at this level spend years in a one lane. You will not.

Clear path upward

This role is a direct feeder into the Finance Manager track. Strong performers are recognised quickly in a team this lean.

A company worth joining

Fast-growing, mission-driven, and centrally located at the Lifelong Learning Institute, Paya Lebar. The work is substantive and the environment moves fast.
