Job Details:

Job Summary: The Senior V&V Engineer role is required to prepare test plans, test completion reports, and daily test status reports as required. The role will ensure that team members adhere to best practices for test execution, requirements traceability, and defect reporting. As this is a customer-facing role, the role will be occasionally required to represent Cubic’s interests at various test status meetings and respond to customer enquiries related to testing, whilst maintaining and building a good collaborative working relationship with the customer.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed functional test specifications for both device and system tests

Provide input and/or conduct Performance Reviews

Set and coordinate training activities to ensure that the applicable Test personnel’s skills and knowledge are continuously improving.

Work to eliminate the single points of failure within the knowledge base within the department.

Ensure that adequate training material is available through video clips, slide decks, and Confluence pages. This material is to be reviewed and maintained on a regular basis.

Record and report the results of the training progress of applicable Test personnel

Conduct interviews as required

Use industry-standard test tools to develop manual and automated tests in a variety of programming languages

Conduct subsystem, system, and user-level testing

Conduct end-to-end testing

Document test results and share findings with development teams and project stakeholders

Liaise with the Engineering departments and customers with regard to the testing of projects

Conduct tests both in-house and in the presence of the customer

Prepare and conduct in-house reliability tests

Coordinate and oversee the work of applicable Test personnel, collating results and reporting defects

Attend project test reviews

Prepare and conduct environmental tests

Prepare and issue test reports

Perform Defect Reviews and ensure that they are conducted regularly

Prepare and maintain the test configuration environments

Provide Bid estimation support for all departmental activities

Provide resource allocation input

Support with the automation of testing activities

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their Manager from time-to-time, as may be reasonably required of them.

Skills, knowledge, and experience:

Essential:

Solid previous experience within a Product test or QA environment.

Experience of manual and exploratory testing

Experience in building and executing test cases and plans

Experience using TestRail and Jira

Experience with testing methods, including test-driven development and automated testing

Experience of each stage of the Software Development Life Cycle.

Effectiveness within the previous role of ensuring software is released with a minimum of defects reaching the customer

Ability to write good reports and general word processing skills (Word, Excel, Databases).

Good day-to-day planning skills, coordination, and control under pressure.

To work equally well on their own as well as within a team.

Windows and Linux experience

Working knowledge of SQL, Basic UNIX, and Confluence.

Desirable:

Relevant industry/product knowledge

Experience in the Transport or automotive industry testing

Knowledge of Serial and TCP/IP comms protocols and configuration

Agile/Scrum experience

Participate in interviews for recruitment

Linux Shell scripting

Use of Project Planning Tools

Awareness of Smart/Payment Card technology and public key encryption technologies

Man management experience

Education and qualifications

Bachelor's or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline OR relevant industry experience.

Six (6)+ years of relevant experience.

ISTQB Foundation.
