AI/ML Engineer - #26-13511

About the role
Duration: 6+ Months
About the Role We are looking for an engineer who is genuinely excited about AI — not someone who tolerates it as a tool, but someone who wakes up thinking about what they can build with it next. This is a hands-on research and development role where you will design, build, and deploy AI-powered workflows and automation solutions across a wide range of engineering domains. Every week will look different. One day you are building a Claude skill for GD&T drawing review. The next you are writing a SolidWorks macro with Cursor, or prompting ChatGPT to generate a CREO script, or figuring out how to automate PCB inspection with an LLM pipeline. You will rarely be given a perfectly defined problem — you will be given a need, and you will figure out how to solve it with AI.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Research, prototype, and deliver AI-assisted solutions for engineering tasks across mechanical design, PCB/EE, simulation, documentation, and manufacturing
Build and maintain Claude skills, Claude Code workflows, and multi-step LLM pipelines using Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other leading AI tools
Write and debug scripts using Ai tools to automate software such as SolidWorks, CREO, Maple, Cadence Allegro, Ansys, and other engineering platforms.
Evaluate new AI tools, models, and APIs as they are released and assess their usefulness for engineering applications
Translate vague engineering needs into concrete AI-powered prototypes
Document workflows, algorithms, and solutions clearly enough that another engineer can pick up and run with them
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, software, systems, industrial)
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Demonstrate comfort using AI tools: you have built something real with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Copilot, Grok, or equivalent
Ability to write and read Python or another scripting language — you do not need to be a software engineer, but you need to be able to work with code
Problem-solving mindset: when handed an unfamiliar tool or platform, your instinct is to figure it out, not to wait for someone to teach you
Strong communication — you will need to explain what you built and how and why it works
Strong writing skills - you will need to write clear reports
Being able to generate and explain comparative analysis reports - show how the new Ai solution works better than existing non-Ai methods
STRONGLY PREFERRED:
Experience with engineering software such as SolidWorks, CREO, Maple, Altium, KiCad, or similar
Familiarity with APIs, prompt engineering, and LLM workflows
Experience building automation or macros in any engineering CAD/CAE platform
Attitude
Excited when handed a problem nobody has solved before
Enthusiastic about AI — genuinely curious, not just competent
Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration
Not intimidated by talking to an LLM, debugging a prompt, or diving into an unfamiliar codebase
Being able to work in a team environment
Being able to work under pressure in a very fast paced environment
What You Will Not Do
Follow a rigid spec sheet every day
Wait for someone to hand you a tutorial
Avoid tools just because they are new or unfamiliar
