Overview:
Verathon® is looking for a Payroll Accountant to become the newest member of our Finance Team located in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
The Payroll Accountant is responsible for managing payroll processing procedure to Verathon’s payroll function for The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Italy, France and UK, systems auditing and account management, report generation, and corporate-wide special projects as needed. The Payroll Accountant is responsible for supporting accurate, timely and compliant periodic closings, under the supervision of the Manager.
Responsibilities:
Principal Responsibilities:
Ensure payroll calculations are processed accurately and timely each pay cycle
Prepare all payroll journal entries and account reconciliations monthly
Ensure all reconciling items are researched and cleared timely
Input authorized changes and new hires enrollments into system
Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recordation of ‘staff benefits’ which do not fall part of the monthly payroll process; this includes WKR (NL), P11Ds/PSA (UK), DE expense reporting and any other local country requirements
Monitor and reconcile paid time off (PTO) and other relevant leaves
Generate manual checks and post one-off transactions and adjustments as needed
Support and participate in various audits
Ensure all payroll information and records are 100% accurate and maintained in accordance with statutory requirements
Coordinate all banking related activities for all Verathon entities Support employee Payroll Portal access
Assist in company efforts in improving and automation of payroll-related processes
Prepare payroll-related reports and analysis for Accounting and HR as needed
Support all external and internal audits related to payroll
Back-up of GL related activities if the need arises
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience is required
5+ years of payroll experience is required
Proficiency in relevant payroll and accounting software
ADP and external payroll company experience is preferred
Multi-country payroll experience is required
Fundamental Payroll Certification or Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word as well as automated accounting programs
Knowledge of applicable country rules and laws
Basic understanding of GAAP is preferred
Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality is critical
Problem solving abilities
Professional, yet personal demeanor and strong customer service skills
Ability to prioritize workload and address issues with a sense of urgency
Proven track record of strong team orientation and communication skills
