Role Summary

The Product Owner – Data Services (Transmission Lines & Grid Diagnostics) is responsible for the tactical ownership and delivery of analytics and intelligence services focused on grid monitoring, fault analysis, diagnostics, fault location, and power quality.

Within Qualitrol’s SAFe 6.0 Agile framework, this role acts as the customer advocate for utility and grid operator users, ensuring Agile teams deliver analytics that improve outage response, grid reliability, and operational decision‑making.

The Product Owner bridges real‑world grid operations and delivery execution by converting customer insights into clear backlog priorities and validated outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Discovery & Insight Generation

Engage directly with grid operators, protection engineers, and utility stakeholders to understand operational workflows and constraints

Conduct interviews, observations, and site visits to capture real‑world use cases related to fault detection, classification, diagnostics, fault location, and power quality

Translate customer insights into product behaviors, analytics expectations, and acceptance criteria

Backlog Ownership & Story Definition

Own and prioritize the Agile team backlog, balancing customer value, technical feasibility, and delivery flow

Write high‑quality user stories and acceptance criteria aligned with utility outcomes and operational realities

Ensure backlog readiness and clarity prior to iteration execution

Agile Delivery & Validation

Participate in PI Planning, iteration planning, backlog refinement, and PO synchronization ceremonies

Accept completed stories based on delivered value, correctness, and usability for real grid scenarios

Maintain fast feedback loops with customers to validate delivered functionality

Collaboration & Alignment

Partner with Product Managers to translate grid strategy and features into executable team backlog

Collaborate with Engineering, Data Science, and Customer Success teams to support delivery, adoption, and value realization

Share customer learnings across the ART to support alignment and continuous improvement

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Data Engineering, Data Sciences, Statistics or related field

5+ years experience as a Product Owner or similar Agile delivery role

Solid understanding of power systems, transmission networks, and grid fault concepts

Experience working in Agile / SAFe environments with distributed teams

Strong communication skills and comfort engaging directly with customers
