Job Summary

We are seeking a full-time Medical Receptionist to join our dedicated team at The Pinner Road Surgery. As a patient-focused, tight-knit practice with a strong commitment to training and personal development, we are looking for a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, people-centred environment.

This role is predominantly telephone-based, with a complementary element of administrative duties related to calls received. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for our patients and will play a pivotal role in delivering an outstanding patient experience.

Main duties of the job

Greeting and directing patients as they arrive for their appointments.

Managing a high volume of telephone requests and patient enquiries in a courteous, efficient, and professional manner.

Processing repeat prescription requests accurately and in line with practice procedures.

Scheduling and managing patient appointments with the appropriate healthcare professional.

Processing home visit requests and accurately relaying relevant clinical information.

Taking and delivering messages between patients and clinical staff.

Processing non-NHS claim forms and private referral letters.

Collecting fees for non-NHS work in accordance with practice policy.

Updating and maintaining patient records on EMIS Web, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality at all times.

Communicating test and investigation results to patients as directed by clinical staff.

Filing and maintaining patient medical records and manuscript documentation.

Receiving patient specimens and ensuring timely batch delivery to the designated collection point.

Testing the clarity of the telephone message system in accordance with practice procedures.

Securing the premises and setting the alarm at close of day in line with practice protocols.

Supporting the wider practice team with any other essential duties as required to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the surgery.
