About the role
The Production Planning Manager is responsible for inventory management, scheduling data, tracking information, supply status, coordinating material planning activities and reporting on material issues. They will need to advise with internal and external personnel and manage a team of employees.
General Responsibilities
Manage production planning activities
Maximize the use of the organization's resources and meet established production specifications and schedules; volume, cost, and wastage targets; and quality standards
Supervise the most complex, large, or difficult production projects to produce schedules and plans, tools, equipment needed to manufacture products
Contribute to the development of operating budgets for the production unit
Research, evaluate, and recommend changes to production processes, systems, technology, capital, equipment, or other assets that will enhance the organization's production capabilities
Liaise with functional or operational area managers to integrate their activities into productions plans, cost estimates, and schedules
Develop production planning staff to ensure that their activities meet pre-established targets
Experience / Qualifications
A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members
Holds self and others accountable to achieving goals and standards
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
