Title: Software Test Engineer - 120395

Onsite/Remote:Onsite Position

Your Responsibilities

As a Software Test Engineer for the John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) located in Torrance, CA you will design and complete software test verification for features on GNSS StarFire Receiver and Signal projects. You will bridge the gap between high-level prototyping and production-ready reliability through automation and strategic verification. In addition, you will:

Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies for advanced GNSS navigation algorithms. Verify functional and performance features of StarFire GNSS Receivers through a mix of manual and automated testing.

Contribute to design implementation and requirements definition by working directly with developers and systems engineers to ensure product excellence.

Design, build, and maintain robust automated test frameworks to systematically replace manual verification, increasing coverage to build robust Regression Library for StarFire Receivers.

Create and maintain complex technical test plans and user for the verification team.

Partner with Software Development during the design phase to ensure features are inherently testable. Support prototyping efforts to validate proof-of-concepts before integration into the main codebase.

Diagnose and troubleshoot complex software defects. Analyze issues in a systematic, persistent, and thorough manner to ensure root-cause resolution.

Develop and implement testing for proposed engineering solutions, providing the data-driven feedback necessary to validate and iterate on hardware/software designs

What Skills You Need

2 or more years of hands-on experience in GNSS StarFire Receiver testing, with a deep understanding of receiver performance metrics.

2 or more years of experience managing the full testing lifecycle, including strategic test plan development, execution, and defect tracking/reporting

Professional proficiency in MATLAB and Python

Experience using Spirent Simulator for GNSS verification

Advanced analytical skills with ability to troubleshoot complex software/hardware interactions and translate technical issues into actionable insights for cross-functional teams.

Ability to read schematics and understand the relationship between firmware and hardware components

Experience designing and building mechanical infrastructure or test fixtures to support physical prototype validation

Strong experience utilizing Azure DevOps (ADO) and/or TFS

Proven ability to work effectively alongside mechanical, hardware, system, and embedded software and navigation engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.

What Makes You Standout

Specialized experience in GNSS Software verification specially with StarFire Receivers & Signal

Technical familiarity with CAN, Ethernet, and USB hardware interfaces, as well as networking protocols.

Experience with 3D modeling for test environment design.

Conceptual understanding of GNSS fundamentals and their application in high-precision environments for Ag.

Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end verification for complex functional or performance features on StarFire Receiver.

Expertise in Exploratory Testing for prototype features, combined with a disciplined approach to System-Level, Regression, and PV&V cycles.

Proven skill in planning and managing activities against tight schedules, including the ability to proactively identify constraints and adjust timelines to maintain momentum.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of driving cross-functional projects to completion through effective teamwork.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering. Others may apply.
