🌟 Data Protection Paralegal
📍 Hybrid | Full-time | Permanent
Fantastic opportunity to join a small, collaborative Legal & Compliance team within a large, multi‑site organisation operating across several European jurisdictions.
This varied role blends data protection and governance work (around 60–70%) with junior paralegal support (around 30–40%), offering real exposure, responsibility and development from day one.
🔍 About the Role
You’ll work closely with senior legal and data protection stakeholders, supporting the organisation’s compliance with data protection laws while also gaining practical legal experience across corporate, commercial and governance matters.
🛡️ Key Responsibilities
Data Protection & Compliance
Managing and responding to data subject rights requests, including Subject Access Requests
Supporting investigations into personal data breaches and complaints
Maintaining accurate compliance logs and records
Preparing reports on compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and related regulations
Supporting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
Promoting data protection awareness through training, policy updates and process reviews
Assisting with records management, audits and ongoing monitoring
Paralegal & Legal Support
Drafting and reviewing straightforward legal documents (e.g. NDAs, policies) under supervision
Assisting with corporate governance documentation, including board minutes and resolutions
Coordinating corporate and company secretarial records
Supporting trademark management and renewals
Assisting with insurance administration, document management and contract execution
Supporting wider legal projects and process improvements
âś… About You
Essential
Strong academic background with excellent attention to detail
Knowledge of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, or a strong desire to develop this quickly
Experience (including internships or placements) in a legal, compliance, data protection or governance environment
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Confident communicator, able to explain regulatory concepts clearly and practically
Trustworthy, discreet and comfortable handling confidential information
A collaborative team player with a proactive and curious mindset
Comfortable using Microsoft Office and document management systems
Desirable
Experience handling SARs, data breaches or DPIAs
Previous paralegal or legal support experience
Exposure to corporate governance, due diligence or company secretarial work
Experience drafting NDAs, board minutes or similar documentation
A law degree or legal qualification (or working towards one)
This role would suit someone detail‑driven, highly organised and genuinely interested in building expertise in data protection and law within a business‑focused environment.
Able to sign off on qualifying work experience for those who will look to self-fund the SQE in the future.
