Job Summary
This position is located in Saint Elizabeths Hospital, Department of Behavioral Health, Office of Medical Affairs. Serves as psychiatry expert and clinical treatment team member and/or primary or approving practitioner with rotating shifts and periodic on-call responsibilities on a 24 hour, 7 - day week basis. Clinical services are provided within a recovery model fee for service managed care environment. Psychiatric responsibilities include diagnosis and assessment determinations of medically necessary services, medication management, counseling and psychotherapy.
Qualifications
Graduation with a degree of Doctor of Medicine from a United States School of Medicine or Canadian School of Medicine approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education of the American Medical Association in the year of the applicant's graduation or an equivalent degree from a foreign medical school certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)
Licensures, Certifications And Other Requirements
A current permanent and full or unrestricted District of Columbia license to practice medicine.
Education
Graduation with a degree of Doctor of Medicine from a United States School of Medicine or Canadian School of Medicine approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) of the American Medical Association in the year of the applicant's graduation or an equivalent degree from a foreign medical school certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Completion of accredited Residency Training in Psychiatry.
Work Experience
Mastery of a wide range of psychiatric theories, practices, and techniques used in diagnosis, assessment and medication and somatic treatment of mentally ill consumers.
Work Environment
Work is in a controlled environment and involves some exposure to moderate risk of accidents and requires following basic safety precautions.
Tour of Duty: Monday thru Friday - 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (May include evenings, weekends and holidays)

Salary Range
CS-5 - $323,315 - $367,205
CS-5B - $335,305 - $381,459
CS-5C - $342,684 - $390,232
Position Designation: This position is deemed as “Safety Sensitive” pursuant to Section 410 of Chapter 4 of the D.C. Personnel Regulations, in addition to the general suitability screening, individuals applying for or occupying safety sensitive positions are subject to the following checks and tests:
Criminal background check;
Traffic record check (as applicable);
Pre-employment drug and alcohol test;
Reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol test;
Post-accident or incident drug and alcohol test;
Random drug and alcohol test; and
Return-to-duty or follow-up drug and alcohol test.
RESIDENCY PREFERENCE
A person applying for a position in the Career Service, Educational Service, Management Supervisory Service, a line attorney position in the Legal Service (series 905), or an attorney position in the Excepted Service (series 905) who is a bona fide District resident AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION for the position may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants, unless the person declines the preference points. If selected, the person shall be required to present proof of bona fide District residency and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7-year period will result in forfeiture of employment.
If the position you are applying for is in the Career, Management Supervisory, or Educational Service at an annual salary of one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) or more, you must establish residency in the District of Columbia within one hundred eighty (180) days of the effective date of the appointment and continue to maintain residency within the District of Columbia throughout the duration of the appointment.”
