Welcome to G & Del's Bakery, a family-owned bakery based in Chelsea Heights, Victoria, specialising in high-quality breads, pastries, cakes, and authentic Filipino baked products. We are passionate about delivering traditional Filipino bakery favourites alongside artisan breads, specialty cakes, and freshly baked pastries to our growing customer base.

As our business continues to, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Manager to oversee our bakery retail operations, lead our team, and support the continued growth of the business.

Role Summary

The Retail Manager is responsible for organising and controlling the day-to-day retail operations of G & Del's Bakery and ensuring the efficient operation of the bakery's retail activities.

The role involves managing staff, maintaining customer service standards, overseeing stock control, coordinating purchasing activities, monitoring sales performance, and ensuring bakery products are presented to the highest standards. The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting business growth, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Managing the daily operations of the bakery retail business and ensuring smooth workflow throughout trading hours;

Determining product mix, stock levels and service standards to meet customer demand and business objectives;

Planning and implementing purchasing, merchandising, marketing and promotional activities;

Monitoring sales performance and analysing sales reports to identify opportunities for growth and improved profitability;

Maintaining records of stock levels, financial transactions, sales performance and operational activities;

Assisting in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, labour costs and operating expenses;

Coordinating supplier orders, receiving deliveries and maintaining strong supplier relationships;

Ensuring bakery products, cakes, pastries and Filipino specialty products are displayed attractively and maintained to presentation standards;

Managing inventory levels and implementing stock control procedures to minimise wastage and product loss;

Recruiting, training, supervising and performance managing retail staff;

Preparing staff rosters and allocating duties according to operational requirements;

Monitoring employee performance and ensuring compliance with workplace policies and procedures;

Ensuring high standards of customer service and resolving customer enquiries, feedback and complaints;

Promoting bakery products and recommending products to customers based on preferences and seasonal offerings;

Advising business owners on pricing strategies, product offerings, promotional activities and opportunities to improve business performance;

Maintaining compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, food safety regulations and company policies;

Supporting the introduction of new bakery products and seasonal promotions;

Ensuring cash handling procedures, point-of-sale operations and daily reconciliations are conducted accurately.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you should have:

Minimum 2–3 years of relevant retail management experience;

Demonstrated experience managing retail operations within a bakery, café, food retail, deli, supermarket, specialty food or similar environment;

Experience supervising, training and leading retail teams;

Strong inventory control, purchasing and stock management skills;

Experience analysing sales reports and monitoring business performance;

Strong customer service and relationship management skills;

Excellent organisational, leadership and problem-solving abilities;

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment;

Sound understanding of food safety, workplace health and safety requirements and retail compliance standards;

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with staff, customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

Certificate IV or higher qualification in Retail Management, Business, Management or a related field will be an advantage; or

At least three years of relevant retail management experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
