About the role

This role involves the design, analysis, installation, testing and optimisation of electrical systems and industrial automation equipment for packaging machinery. The position requires applying electrical engineering principles to ensure system performance, reliability, safety, and compliance with relevant standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Design, develop and evaluate electrical systems, control systems and automation solutions for industrial machinery.

Analyse system performance and diagnose complex electrical and control faults in industrial equipment.

Oversee and participate in the installation, commissioning and integration of electrical equipment and systems at customer sites.

Conduct testing, calibration and validation of electrical systems to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Prepare and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, system layouts and engineering documentation.

Modify and optimise PLC programs, HMI interfaces and multi-axis robotic systems to improve operational efficiency and performance.

Design and implement control logic, safety circuits and industrial communication networks.

Perform engineering calculations, data analysis and system evaluations to support design improvements and troubleshooting.

Monitor system performance and recommend engineering improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency and lifecycle outcomes.

Provide technical engineering support to clients, including resolution of complex engineering issues.

Prepare technical reports, service documentation and engineering records.

Ensure compliance with applicable electrical standards, safety regulations and quality requirements.

Liaise with internal engineering teams and stakeholders on system design, modifications and continuous improvement initiatives.

Travel to customer sites to support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and optimisation of electrical systems.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering (or closely related discipline).

Demonstrated experience in the design, analysis and maintenance of industrial electrical and automation systems.

Strong knowledge of PLC and control systems (e.g. Beckhoff, Siemens S7, Allen Bradley).

Experience with motion control systems, servo technologies and robotics.

Knowledge of industrial communication networks and control architectures.

Ability to interpret and prepare electrical drawings, schematics and technical specifications.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex engineering issues.

Understanding of relevant electrical standards, safety regulations and compliance requirements.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a client-facing engineering role.

Desirable:

Experience with multi-axis and vision-guided robotic systems.

Experience in industrial packaging or manufacturing environments.

Additional Requirements

Valid driver’s licence.

Willingness to undertake frequent domestic and international travel (up to 80%).

Flexibility to work outside standard hours where required to support project delivery and client needs.
