A fast-scaling technology company in Berlin is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing product engineering team.
The platform helps businesses and individuals take ownership of their digital identity, privacy, and data through secure, decentralised infrastructure used across industries and borders.
This is a chance to lead a mission-critical product team building complex systems at scale, while staying close to architecture, technical decisions, and product strategy.
What You’ll Do
Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team across backend, frontend, and platform engineering
Drive delivery of complex product features across a multi-component platform
Work closely with product, design, and infrastructure teams to shape roadmap and execution
Act as a technical leader for architecture, scalability, performance, and system reliability
Improve engineering standards across code quality, testing, CI/CD, and best practices
Break down complex technical challenges into clear, actionable delivery plans
Coach and mentor engineers, supporting career growth and team development
Help build a strong engineering culture with high ownership, collaboration, and fast execution
Tech Stack
TypeScript / Node.js / React (core focus)
AWS Serverless / Cloud Infrastructure
Microservices / Event-Driven Architecture
Developer tooling including APIs, SDKs, and platform workflows
Strong engineering leadership matters more than exact tooling.
You Should Have
Strong experience leading engineering teams in fast-paced product environments
Hands-on technical leadership with strong backend and system design fundamentals
Ability to balance people leadership with architecture and technical decision-making
Experience building and scaling production-grade systems in cloud-native environments
Strong understanding of clean architecture, testing, and engineering best practices
Comfort working cross-functionally with product, design, and senior stakeholders
A pragmatic mindset with a focus on delivery, quality, and team performance
Bonus
Experience with developer platforms, SDKs, or internal tooling
Background in privacy, security, identity, or infrastructure-heavy products
Exposure to Go, Rust, or other modern backend languages
Strong documentation and architectural decision-making practices
