About the role

We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant whose primary responsibility is leading, managing, and developing people while ensuring the delivery of high-quality tax, accounting, and advisory services.

This role requires a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, international accounting standards, and U.S. tax law, combined with the ability to oversee teams, manage client relationships, and drive engagements from start to finish.

The ideal candidate is organized, inquisitive, client-facing, and a strong communicator, capable of translating complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for business owners.

This is a fully remote position working closely with leadership and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Management (Primary Function)

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountants and bookkeepers

Review and oversee bookkeeping, financial statements, and tax deliverables

Ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to U.S. GAAP and applicable international standards (e.g., IFRS)

Manage team workload, deadlines, and performance expectations

Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and technical training

Improve internal workflows, systems, and team efficiency

2. Client Advisory & Relationship Management

Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients

Lead client meetings and present financial insights in a clear, non-technical manner

Provide proactive tax planning and strategic advisory services

Advise clients on profitability, cash flow, tax strategy, and business growth

Build and maintain long-term, trusted client relationships

3. Accounting & Tax Oversight

Oversee preparation and review of:

Financial statements

Bookkeeping and month-end close

Business and individual tax returns

Ensure compliance with:

U.S. GAAP

U.S. tax regulations (IRS)

Relevant international tax and reporting requirements

Research and resolve complex accounting and tax issues

Ensure engagements are completed from start to finish with high quality

4. Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable processes

Enhance internal controls and quality assurance procedures

Collaborate with leadership on firm growth and service offerings

Support adoption of technology and automation tools

QualificationsRequired

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

5+ years of experience in tax and accounting

Strong knowledge of:

U.S. GAAP

U.S. tax law and compliance

Exposure to international accounting and tax concepts

Proven experience managing and developing teams

Experience managing client relationships and leading meetings

Ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously

Strong organizational and project management skills

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Preferred

CPA, EA, or equivalent certification (preferred, not required)

Experience with multi-entity and multi-state taxation

Exposure to international clients or cross-border tax matters

Experience with cloud-based accounting tools (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero)

Experience with tax software (e.g., ProConnect, Drake, UltraTax)
