Energy Solutions Systems Engineer

Role Purpose

Lead the technical / engineering area within TIC for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Data Centre UPS, and Power/Distribution Transformers & Switchgear. Provide strong technical leadership in electrical design, collaborating with control engineering. Foster accountability and collaboration, and maintain deep technical engagement across Energy Solutions technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

· Within this senior role with technical leadership scope, promote a proactive, outcome-focused team culture and drive accountability for time-dependent deliverables.

Engineering Governance & Design

· Follow proven and robust methodologies for developing energy solutions.

· Actively implement safety and quality risk management and compliance.

· Provide expert guidance in electrical design and control systems (including PLC/HMI where applicable).

· Translate project requirements into clear engineering scopes aligned with schedules and governance.

· Establish and maintain constructive, professional relationships across technical engineering and project delivery teams.

· Ensure strong integration of quality management and safety-in-design within engineering activities.

· Active collaboration with Principal Engineers in responsibility area of Energy Solutions.

· Work within TIC technical and engineering governance frameworks and procedures; champion these in conjunction with Principal Engineers

Project Delivery & Support

· Lead development of technical offers on opportunities within BESS and UPS / Energy supply for Data Centres.

· Support new opportunities for other energy solutions as required within the energy solutions team.

· Collaborate closely with project delivery associates to meet schedule and technical objectives.

· Foster existing and build new relationships with capable internal and external service providers and stakeholders for the benefit of energy solutions business.

· Coordinate high-quality documentation for complex technical projects, including SLDs, schematics, GA drawings, functional specifications and other related deliverables.

Experience & Capabilities

· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

· Registered engineer within Queensland (RPEQ) and/or Victoria (CAV) preferred.

· Suitable experience in BESS and transformer projects, covering electrical design and control engineering; data centre / UPS experience highly valued.

· Suitable background or awareness relating to PLC programming and HMI including BESS and UPS control and electrical systems / network architecture.

· Demonstrated capability in preparing and coordinating high‑quality technical documentation and coordinating complex projects.

· Experience creating SLDs, schematic and GA drawings (AutoCAD; SolidWorks highly valued).

· Electrical design competencies including sizing, equipment selection, and delivery of successful electrical systems.

· Proven leadership in accountability-driven project environments.

· Strong understanding of project delivery frameworks and engineering governance, including quality management and safety-in-design (oil & gas experience highly valued).

· Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
