Deep Spot is a travel media startup focused on showcasing the world's weirdest and most unknown destinations.

Our mission is to show the world a new way to travel and to explore off-the-beaten-path locations before these world wonders are gone forever. We are developing a web-based media platform with an accompanying travel app showcasing odd travel destinations around the world.

Founding Background & Creative Style

We are creating travel media that focuses on educational storytelling with a retro, and pop culture aesthetic from the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s.

Job: Graphic Designer | UX/UI Designer

Your primary role is redesigning our current web platform into something more engaging, dynamic, and visually distinctive. As we grow, the work expands into social media content, physical print, and quarterly magazines.

For the right candidate, this isn't just a design role — you'll have the opportunity to join as a founding member and shape the editorial vision of the company as Editor in Chief.

Main Editorial Tasks Include:

Redesign the web platform

Conceptualize the UX/UI for the mobile app

Design quarterly print magazines with a retro, pop culture aesthetic

Create social media graphics showcasing product features, company stories, and featured destinations

High Flexibility: This work is very flexible. Applicants have the opportunity to request time off for holidays and events with advanced notice.

This is mostly remote work.

給与:

We are currently in a transitional phase as we establish our Japan office in Fall 2026. We are starting with a part-time training role that will transition into a full-time position.

Phase 1 - Trial/Part-Time (Now - Late Spring):

Hourly Wage: ¥1,500 – ¥2,000

Weekly Total: 18 hours

Phase 2 - Full-Time (Starting Late Spring/Summer 2026):

Monthly Salary: ¥250,000 – ¥300,000

Weekly Total: 40 hours/week

Overtime is optional for motivated employees seeking a full-time position.

Social Insurance (Starting Fall 2026): Full social insurance coverage (Health Insurance, Employee Pension, Employment Insurance, and Workers' Compensation) will be provided once the Japan office is established. Please note: This is not offered for the initial starting part-time position.

Hiring Process

Work Samples: You only need to submit or provide a link to a sample of your video design work (portfolio).

Online Interview: We will conduct an online interview primarily in English. We also speak Japanese at a conversational level.

Practice Project: If considered for the role, you will be provided with a simple practice project to complete as a trial. Currently, we are looking for phone mockups of our application for our landing page

If hired, the full version of the website will be shared as the redesign of the actual product will be the next task.
