About the role
The HSEQ Data & Analytics Analyst is responsible for supporting the HSEQ function through robust data management, analysis, and insight. The role focuses on maintaining and analysing HSEQ performance data, identifying trends and systemic issues, and supporting leadership with reliable, defensible information for decision‑making and assurance.
The role operates within the HSEQ team, with defined interaction with IT and data specialists where required.
Maintain and support Power BI dashboards, datasets, and dataflows used for HSEQ reporting.
Validate, reconcile, and assure the quality of HSEQ data used for internal reporting and assurance.
Analyse and trend leading and lagging HSEQ indicators, including the Safety Maturity Index.
Identify patterns, trends, anomalies, and systemic issues in incident, audit, and performance data.
Support HSEQ leadership and managers with accurate data for project reviews, presentations, and management forums.
Contribute analytical insight and evidence to the Annual Management Review process.
Review and critically analyse audit reports and audit datasets to identify recurring themes and weaknesses.
Clearly communicate data limitations, assumptions, and confidence where required.
Support consistent interpretation of metrics across UK and ROI operations.
Work within defined governance and data control frameworks to ensure external defensibility of outputs.
Competency Framework
Technical & Analytical Competencies
Strong analytical capability with experience working with complex datasets.
Practical experience supporting or maintaining Power BI dashboards, datasets, and dataflows.
Ability to identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, and classification errors.
Experience trending performance data and interpreting leading and lagging indicators.
Ability to analyse audit and assurance data to identify systemic issues rather than isolated findings.
Understanding of data governance, controls, and the importance of defensible reporting.
HSEQ & Business Understanding
Working understanding of HSEQ performance metrics and management systems.
Awareness of the need for consistency and comparability across different legal and regulatory contexts (UK and ROI).
Ability to interpret data in an organisational and operational context, not just technically.
Communication & Professional Competencies
Ability to present data and analysis clearly to non‑technical audiences.
Confidence to challenge data quality, assumptions, or interpretations where evidence supports it.
Structured and methodical approach to analysis and reporting.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work collaboratively within HSEQ and with supporting technical teams.
