Role Overview:
The Experience Associate Director (GEO/SEO) is responsible for leading end-to-end delivery of GEO/SEO projects, ensuring high-quality execution, operational excellence, and strong client relationships. This role plays a critical part in translating strategy into execution, while working closely with media, CXM, and data teams to deliver integrated performance outcomes.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1. Project Delivery & Operations
Lead delivery of GEO/SEO projects across multiple clients and markets
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to high quality standards
Translate strategic direction into actionable execution plans
Collaborate closely with media, CXM, and analytics teams to ensure integrated delivery
Manage workflows, resourcing, and operational efficiency
2. Client Management & Growth
Act as the primary point of contact for key clients
Build strong client relationships and ensure satisfaction
Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts
Connect SEO/GEO performance with broader media and CXM initiatives to drive growth
3. Delivery Quality & Performance Management
Maintain high standards for SEO/GEO deliverables (technical, content, AI search optimisation)
Monitor performance metrics and optimise strategies accordingly
Leverage data and insights across SEO, media, and CXM to inform recommendations
Ensure consistency and best practices across all deliverables
4. Team Leadership & Capability Development
Manage and mentor managers, executives, and specialists
Oversee day-to-day team performance and output quality
Provide training and guidance on GEO/SEO best practices and integrated workflows
Support team development and succession planning
5. Strategic Support & Pitch Contribution
Support new business pitches with insights, case studies, and proposed approaches
Collaborate with the Director on integrated strategies and product rollouts
Contribute to thought leadership and internal knowledge sharing
Qualifications:
8–10+ years of experience in SEO, digital marketing, or integrated performance marketing, with a strong track record leading delivery across multiple clients, industries, and markets.
Deep expertise in core SEO disciplines, including technical SEO (crawlability, indexation, site architecture), content strategy (keyword research, content planning, topical authority), on-page optimisation, and off-page/authority strategies across complex and enterprise-level environments.
Proven ability to translate high-level strategy into clear, structured execution plans that are actionable, measurable, and aligned with client objectives.
Demonstrated success in senior client management, including maintaining high satisfaction, handling challenging conversations, and driving long-term account growth.
Experience identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts and partnering with senior leadership to convert these into commercial outcomes.
Strong experience working in a cross-functional, matrixed environment (media, analytics, content, UX, technology).
Proven people leadership experience, including managing managers and senior specialists, providing structured feedback, mentoring team members, and ensuring consistent delivery quality.
Practical awareness of AI-driven search changes, including the impact of AI Overviews, LLM-driven discovery, and evolving organic visibility patterns.
Develop-on-the-job (supported through training and leadership)
Hands-on delivery of Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), including LLM-specific audits, citation gap analysis, entity clarity assessment, and answer-level optimisation.
Advanced AI-search measurement frameworks beyond rankings and traffic, including AI visibility, citation presence, and brand representation metrics.
Use of GEO-specific tools, AI-assisted content workflows, and automation to scale SEO and GEO delivery.
Development and documentation of formal GEO playbooks and AI-search best practices.
