Senior AWS Enterprise Architect – Cloud Center of Excellence (COE)About the Role

We are seeking an experienced AWS Enterprise Architect to establish and lead our Cloud Center of Excellence (COE). In this strategic role, you will drive the design and implementation of enterprise-wide cloud governance, platform engineering standards, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks. You will define the architectural foundations that enable engineering teams to build secure, scalable, and compliant cloud solutions while enhancing developer productivity across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Assess existing AWS Landing Zone environments and define a target-state cloud architecture aligned with AWS best practices.

Modernize and optimize AWS Control Tower and integrate it with ServiceNow processes and workflows.

Design, implement, and govern Service Control Policies (SCPs) and enterprise cloud guardrails.

Establish governance standards covering IAM, network segmentation, security baselines, and enterprise tagging strategies.

Create and maintain "Golden Path" architectures with approved IaC templates for networking, containers, serverless services, and identity management.

Lead the design and launch of the Cloud COE Portal, including documentation standards, information architecture, and access controls.

Integrate ServiceNow with AWS Identity Center, Control Tower Account Factory for Terraform (AFT), and IaC workflows.

Architect reusable IaC modules for core infrastructure components such as VPCs, networking, routing, and EKS platforms.

Define CI/CD best practices, including branching models, deployment strategies, artifact management, and rollback mechanisms.

Develop Ansible standards and reusable automation templates for DB2, MQ, SQL Server, and related platforms.

Establish and manage a Service Catalog framework, including provisioning workflows for AWS resources and account management.

Design AMI lifecycle and image management strategies using EC2 Image Builder with enterprise hardening standards.

Create developer onboarding guides, automation scripts, and self-service tooling to streamline cloud adoption.

Embed DevSecOps controls and compliance checks throughout CI/CD pipelines.

Provide architectural leadership, governance oversight, and technical reviews for cloud initiatives.

Act as the primary authority and escalation point for cloud architecture decisions and standards.

Required Qualifications

10+ years of overall IT experience, including at least 6 years focused on AWS cloud architecture.

Deep expertise in AWS Control Tower, AWS Organizations, Landing Zone design, and multi-account governance.

Strong hands-on knowledge of AWS IAM, SCPs, VPCs, Transit Gateway, networking, and cloud security architectures.

Experience designing and supporting containerized and serverless workloads using EKS and AWS Lambda.

Familiarity with EC2 Image Builder and AMI lifecycle management practices.

Proven experience establishing and enforcing enterprise cloud governance frameworks.

Advanced proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.

Strong experience with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or similar tools.

Hands-on experience with Ansible for configuration management and automation.

Knowledge of Policy-as-Code solutions such as AWS Config, Open Policy Agent (OPA), or HashiCorp Sentinel.

Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or equivalent automation languages.

Demonstrated ability to influence technical teams and drive adoption of platform standards.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage both technical and executive audiences.

Experience creating and maintaining large-scale technical documentation, standards, and architectural guidance.

Pay: $75.00 - $80.00 per hour
