What you'll be doing
(Responsibilities vary by client, but most Data Engineer roles include:)
Designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
Assembling large, complex datasets that meet business requirements
Building infrastructure for extracting, transforming, and loading data from multiple sources and APIs
Implementing data validation and quality checks for accuracy and consistency
Optimising data storage and retrieval for performance, scalability, and cost
Working alongside data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to make data usable and reliable
What we're looking for
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field — or equivalent practical experience
3+ years' experience in data engineering or a related role
Strong SQL and solid understanding of database systems and data modelling
Proficiency in Python (Java, Scala, or R a plus)
Hands-on experience with a cloud platform — AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Full working rights in Australia
Desirable
Big-data frameworks: Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka
Workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow) and CI/CD practices
Data warehousing: Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
