About the role

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

2 years of experience with Android application development.

Experience in Kotlin programming language.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.

2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Experience with performance optimization, mobile image management (e.g., Glide, Bitmaps).

Experience building performant, visually-forward Android user interfaces using Jetpack Compose and modern architecture patterns.

Knowledge of Android SDK.

As a Software Engineer on this team, you will focus on building the native Android experience for Google Image Search Results Pages and the Image Viewer within the Android Google App. You will lead technical projects end-to-end from design documents to launch, while leadings performance optimizations for critical user journeys to improve speed and fluidity

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.

Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).

Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.

Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

Collaborate on experiment design and data analysis to drive product improvements.
