Senior Design Engineer

Manage design files, design studies, component & assembly drawings in file library system. Capable of sending files via a variety of transfer methods and formats (ex. Teamcenter).

Apply knowledge of plastic part design, injection-molding into design concepts and develop “smart” parameterized 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in appropriate CAD environment.

On time release of drawings and CAD data to meet tooling kick-off dates.

Component and system designs that meet customer performance and YFAI manufacturing requirements.

Ongoing assessments of design to ensure that manufacturing and performance risks are addressed.

Identification and resolution of design related issues during development and launch. Manage day-to-day project details. Includes creating and updating CAD model and drawing schedules (timeline), identifying project tasks, and managing those tasks to successful and timely completion. Take ownership of assigned deliverables.

Design product to cost targets (cost awareness).

Root-cause and identify short and long-term countermeasures for resolution of design, engineering or manufacturing feasibility issues.

Apply working knowledge of basic Lean engineering principles and problem-solving tools including benchmarking & reverse engineering, DFMEA, 8D’s, tactical planning, Kepner-Tregoe Problem Resolution, 5-Why process, etc.

Qualifications

University degree in STEM.

Typically, 5+ years of experience.

Communicate effectively with standard tools and face-to-face with internal and external customets. Ability to clearly explain design concepts.

Work effectively to lead in a team environment including direct, contract and global resources.

Manage Engineering change process (Teamcenter experience, familiar with a change system process).

Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Requirements

People Leaders/Managers and above and EHS Professionals must be certified on EHS Management Systems (e.g. EMS, OHSMS)

EHS Professionals, YFIMA (EHS Principle) Auditors must be designated and certified as an EHS Internal Auditor

Designated EHS Critical Roles must be certified (such as Plant Manager, EHS Professional, Operations Manager, Equipment/ Maintenance/ Facility Manager, Logistics Manager, Team Leader, Supervisor, Others)

Technicians/ Operators of High-risk Equipment must be certified before operating (forklift, overhead crane, etc.)

Technicians/Operators of High-Risk Activity (Electrician, Welding, etc.) must be certified to meet specific EHS Qualifications including legal requirements
