Broad Top Area Medical Center, Inc. is seeking a mid-level provider (Psychiatric NP) motivated to provide high-quality, affordable behavioral health care without discrimination as part of our Federally Qualified Health Center. We strive to provide patient-centered, integrated, team-based care. You will work with our nursing care coordination managers, behavioral health consultants, psychiatrists, and primary care providers to our current services to the residents of Huntingdon County, PA and the surrounding region.

PMHNP or CRNP with mental health/psychiatric practice interest, experience

Licensed to practice in Pennsylvania or able to be licensed in Pennsylvania as part of hiring/onboarding

DEA registration including controlled substance prescribing.

Responsible for providing psychiatric services to patients of a federally qualified health center during scheduled hours. Scope of services includes psychiatric evaluations and medication management services by performing the following duties. Psychiatric Nurse practitioner practice complies with national standards of practice and is within the state-mandated scope of practice. Duties are performed in collaboration with other BTAMC practitioners and under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer/Physician and the BH/MH Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Conducts comprehensive psychiatric assessments to evaluate a patient’s mental health status, including emotional, cognitive, and behavioral functioning.

Elicits and records information about patient’s medical, psychiatric, and substance use history to inform diagnosis and treatment decisions.

Orders or performs various laboratory and diagnostic tests to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorders.

Analyzes data, reports, and findings of assessments and other tests, and diagnoses condition.

Administers or prescribes treatments and medications, consulting with physician as necessary.

Counsel patients concerning diet, hygiene, exercise, and psychosocial or behavioral methods for prevention/management of disease or conditions, as necessary.

Uses HIPAA secure telehealth platform(s) approved by organization to attend to patients unable to visit office or Clinic.

Maintains accurate and up to date health records, documenting assessments, diagnoses, treatments, interventions, and recommendations in accordance with all regulatory requirements.

Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate and support integrated, whole-person care

Prepares and signs forms needed for patient care and billing in a timely fashion.

Actively participates in health center quality improvement efforts through peer review, involvement in provider/staff meetings, education and training activities, and review of policy updates as provided.

Abides by the policies and procedures of BTAMC, federal and state regulations, and in accordance with collaborative practice agreement, and acts as a representative of the health center in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

· Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program with focus in psychiatric mental health or psychiatric nursing

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

· Current unrestricted nursing and nurse practitioner licenses in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

· Federal DEA license (Drug Enforcement Agency) with controlled substance prescribing

· Written collaborative agreement as required by Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

· AANP or ANCC psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner certification preferred.

· CPR

Language Skills

· Excellent ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form in the English language. Competence in Spanish is strongly encouraged.

Professional Knowledge & Reasoning Ability

· Strong orientation for attention to details with excellent ability to plan work efficiently.

· Knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning

· Strong commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advancements in the field.

· Excellent clinical judgement and critical thinking skills.

· Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and standards of care relating to psychiatric nursing practice.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in patient care.

Human Relation Skills

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and build rapport with patients and their families, health center staff and colleagues.

· Crisis management skills to respond to high-intensity situations and provide immediate support to persons in distress.

· Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach in providing patient care, including caring for persons with active or history of substance use problems.
