About the role

About Forest Psychological Clinic

Forest Psychological Clinic is a growing outpatient mental health practice serving children, teens, adults, and families in the Portland metro area. We specialize in thoughtful, high-quality care, with a strong focus on neurodiversity, psychological assessment, therapy, and collaborative treatment.

We are adding our first psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner to help build a medication-management service for children and teens, especially neurodiverse clients. This is a new role, so we are looking for someone who is not only clinically skilled, but also excited to help shape what psychiatric care looks like inside a growing psychology practice.

This is a strong fit for someone who wants more than rushed 15-minute med checks. Our goal is to build an anti-burnout psychiatry model with 60-minute intakes, 30-minute follow-ups, and collaborative care with therapists, evaluators, families, and schools when appropriate.

The Role

We are seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who enjoys working with children and adolescents and has experience, interest, or specialization in ADHD, autism, neurodiversity, anxiety, mood concerns, behavioral challenges, and complex family systems.

This person will help develop our medication-management program from the ground up. The right candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable with autonomy, and interested in building a thoughtful, sustainable psychiatric service within a growing clinic.

Responsibilities

Provide psychiatric evaluations and medication-management services for children, teens, and some adults.

Complete 60-minute psychiatric intakes and 30-minute follow-up appointments.

Assess symptoms, diagnosis, medication response, side effects, risk, safety, and treatment progress.

Work collaboratively with therapists, psychologists, evaluators, parents, and outside providers.

Support neurodiverse clients and families with patience, warmth, and clinical sophistication.

Help develop workflows, documentation standards, and best practices for a new medication-management program.

Maintain timely documentation and appropriate prescribing practices.

Ideal Candidate

Licensed PMHNP in Oregon.

Experience working with children and adolescents.

Experience or strong interest in neurodiversity, including ADHD and autism.

Comfortable with outpatient psychiatric assessment and medication management.

Warm, collaborative, organized, and clinically thoughtful.

Able to help build a new role rather than needing everything fully established from day one.

Interested in longer visits and sustainable care rather than high-volume med checks.

Compensation

At 35 hours/week, this equals approximately $165,000- 185,000/year in base pay.

Benefits may include health insurance, retirement plan/401(k), paid administrative support, marketing/referral support, credentialing support, billing support, and a collaborative clinical team.

Schedule

We are envisioning approximately 35 hours/week.

A mature schedule may include approximately one intake per day and 30-minute follow-up medication-management visits, with a gradual ramp-up as the role grows.

This is a new service line, so the caseload will build over time.

Why This Role Is Different

This is an opportunity to help create a psychiatric medication-management program inside a psychology-centered practice. You would not be stepping into a high-volume medication-check model. You would be helping us build something more thoughtful: longer visits, neurodiversity-informed care, collaboration with therapists and evaluators, and a schedule designed to be clinically sustainable.
