The job of an academic is challenging but meaningful. Not only will s/he have both the knowledge and working experience, s/he must also possess a passion for working with youths and adult learners. There will be opportunities to develop curriculum, introduce new courses as well as be involved in consultancy and applied industry/research projects. Administrative work related to teaching and School/Institutional strategic initiatives will also be an important part of the job. The successful candidates will be expected to be resourceful and innovative with initiative and good communication skills.
[What you will be working on]
The appointee must be competent to teach Statistics at diploma and higher levels, as well as conduct training for adult learners.
In addition, the appointee should also be able to teach at least one of the following areas:
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Data Analytics
Programming
Mathematics
The appointee will also be required to teach at least one of the following broad-based, foundational modules under the common core curriculum to enable our students to have the necessary emerging digital skills and human skills.
Data Fluency
Artificial Intelligence and Its Impact
Persuasive Communication with Data Storytelling
Problem Solving with Creative and Computational Thinking
Responsibilities:-
Conduct lessons and mentoring of students
Conduct training for adult learners and support continuing education initiatives
Develop curriculum and learning materials for modules stated above
Deploy effective pedagogy to facilitate learning
Contribute to consultancy and applied industry/research projects
[What we are looking for]
Passionate about education and possess good values
Team player with the ability to work independently
Possess good communication skills, both written and verbal
Tertiary education in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or Engineering
Relevant industry experience and/or knowledge of how statistics is applied in different domains such as Engineering, IT, Built Environment, Maritime or Supply Chain
Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
