Staff Product Designer

Broadcom Application Networking and Security Division

The elite Design organization at Broadcom Application Networking and Security Division is searching for a highly skilled Staff Product Designer to drive the design strategy for a major product area within the VMware vDefend Advanced Threat Prevention solution.

As a seasoned designer and leader, you will own and drive the design strategy for a core feature set within the VMware vDefend product portfolio, delivering unparalleled impact on the global customer experience. We are driven by a commitment to innovation, technical rigor, and a mastery of extreme complexity.

While you don’t directly manage people, you are expected to have the same level of influence on the organization as a designer and a leader. You will be responsible for strategic contributions that shape the future of our product ecosystem, ensuring our platform delivers world-class impact on customer experience. Innovation, technical excellence, and a passion for navigating complexity drive our mission forward.

You own the delivery of end-to-end experience of a major feature set under the vDefend software portfolio, translating high-level business goals into seamless, scalable user experiences. Working across multi-disciplinary teams, you will champion a culture of design excellence and simplify deeply complex enterprise workflows into intuitive management processes. You operate as a key influencer within the organization, balancing high-level strategic thinking with a rigorous commitment to craft and execution.

Primary Responsibilities

Designing user experience, interactions for advanced security solutions, including creating low to high fidelity prototypes to validate designs and interactions

Driving the long-term design strategy and product vision across multi-product initiatives

Driving cross-functional alignment and collaboration with senior leadership in Product, Engineering, and Business

Injecting design thinking and empathy into every nook and cranny of the company

Mentoring and guiding junior designers, fostering a culture of high-caliber design across the team

Qualifications and Requirements

Online portfolio with a range of interactive hands-on samples is required

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering

8+ years of directly related work experience in Product Design, User Interface Design, or HCI in a global technology environments

Must demonstrate significant experience and deep understanding of a product and its users. Have been part of teams that designed, built a product from ground up

Expert level knowledge of creative, design tools such as Figma

Hands-on Visual Design skills

System-thinker with a desire to conceptualize and create delightful experiences across multiple products, services and environments

Ability to proactively engage with end users, enabling us to gain insights into their work behavior/challenges

Demonstrated ability to navigate extreme ambiguity and provide clarity for design and engineering teams

Collaboration and leveraging the knowledge of others and shows the ability to work well with others

Proactive owner who influences design culture and operational excellence across the entire product organization

Receives, weighs, and integrates diverse feedback from a multi-disciplinary team

Strong Presentation and Communication Skills. Must present and communicate their design work effectively to both Product Design team and outside audiences

Understands the mission and goals of Product Design and is able to communicate this to product teams

Bonus Points

Experience with network security product domain

Experience designing products powered by AI

Strong passion for evolving enterprise infrastructure applications

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $192,000

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
