2nd Shift Operations Supervisor

At Quality Edge, we specialize in aluminum and steel exterior building products – including siding, soffit, fascia, trim coil, gutter protection, and other building accessory products. Our goal of providing quality products to make homes look better and last longer is a primary focus to our customers.

As a growing company, we are looking for a hands-on supervisor for 2nd shift. Top candidates will need to show that they have experience in all areas of production and warehouse operations such as roll forming, customer service, order building, truck loading, inventory, personnel leadership; with the ability to run various pieces of equipment (roll former, hi-lo, JLG, pallet jacks, scanner tools, etc.). Knowledge, use and experience of lean principles are required. Being creative, organized and able to build and lead a great team is essential. Working with managers to set-up and drive lean processes will be a focus of this position, as well as ensuring safety, quality and efficiency standards for our 2nd shift crew.

Hours: Monday – Friday; 2:30 pm – 10:30 pm. When on OT the shift runs 2:30 pm – 12:30 am. Our supervisor arrives 20-30 minute before the shift and stays 20-30 minutes after the shift for effective shift hand off communication.

Responsibilities

· Supervise 2nd shift production and shipping/warehouse team to achieve objectives & goals.

· Assign team to machines or loads to satisfy a schedule.

· Train and work with team to achieve objectives.

· Maintain and enforce company policies and safety standards on shift.

· Establish and implement team strategies, programs, and practices to achieve world class service, inventory turns and process flow on 2nd shift.

· Drive best practices in production and shipping/warehouse process.

· Drive measurable improvements in efficiency, productivity and flow.

· Promote Lean, Six Sigma integration to achieve business goals.

· Provide back-up to other shift supervisors.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's Degree in related field or a minimum of 5 years of experience in a lean manufacturing facility in a leadership role.

· Strong leadership and team orientation.

· Ability and willingness to motivate team and lead change.

· Able to train others successfully and optimize cross training of team.

· Independent, strong problem-solving abilities and willingness to make decisions.

· Certification, knowledge and experience implementing Lean principles (value stream mapping, one-piece flow, Action Workouts, Kaizen, 5s, and other lean tools).

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Previous MRP use required, JD Edwards experience a plus.
