Job Description:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Tax and Client Reporting, the Manager, Tax Operations will be responsible to lead and oversee complex tax reporting initiatives and projects, while strengthening vendor relationship, modernizing processes, and influencing the future state of wealth tax operations. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of our tax reporting processes.

Tax Reporting Projects

Lead tax Operations reporting projects/ initiatives and projects related to QI, FATCA, CRS, CRA, and RQ regulatory changes, in collaboration with external vendors, internal stakeholders, and platform teams.

Provide comprehensive assessments of impacts, requirements, and deliver timely updates and issue escalations.

Engage Wealth partners to evaluate new reporting requirements and determine operational/business implications and next steps.

Monitor and report on project milestones, risks, and dependencies to senior management.

Act as a subject matter expert supporting tax reporting projects/initiatives and readiness activities during regulatory or platform changes.

Contribute to defining the future state of tax reporting and client reporting center of excellence, working collaboratively with the Business, Operations Transformation and Platform teams to build support and tangible progress and momentum

Issues/Vendor Management

Oversee vendor relationships including active participation in production and UAT activities, SLA meetings, managing commitments and timelines for tax generation, mailing, and delivery

Monitor vendor/technology performance, escalate issues, and coordinate resolution plans to mitigate delays or inaccuracies.

Maintain and enhance a robust issues management protocol, including escalation paths, proactive identification, solutioning, and reporting.

Collaborate with the Data Validation team to improve QV activities, data quality, reduce outliers, and enhance business processes.

Organize and lead a Tax Reporting Forum to engage stakeholders, manage issues, and secure business alignment.

Experience with large scale change initiatives and ability to manage competing priorities and challenging timelines

Strong collaborator - able to drive consensus on issues and effectively engages colleagues, business partners, external stakeholders

Self-starter and continuous improvement mindset - needs minimal direction on how to get things done and is driven by a continuous improvement mindset

Strong understanding of U.S. and Canadian tax regulatory regimes, including QI, FATCA, CRS, CRA, and RQ considered an asset

Proficiency in Excel and data analysis; familiarity with project management tools is a plus.

Experience working with platform or system development teams on projects.

Job Requirements:

Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

5+ years of progressive experience in Tax Operations, Operations, Regulatory Reporting, Client Reporting, Project Management or related areas.
