About the role

The HR / People Operations position is responsible for supporting the daily human resources functions of the organization. This role helps ensure employees, supervisors, and leadership have the HR support, communication, and documentation needed to operate smoothly and in compliance with company policies and employment requirements.

Responsibilities include:

Support daily HR and People Operations functions.

Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related questions.

Assist with recruitment, including job postings, applicant communication, interview scheduling, and reference checks.

Coordinate new hire onboarding, orientation, and required employment paperwork.

Maintain accurate employee personnel files and HR records.

Track employee licenses, certifications, CPR, TB testing, driver documentation, training records, and other compliance requirements.

Assist with benefits administration, employee eligibility, enrollment, changes, and communication with benefit vendors or brokers.

Support leave of absence coordination, including sick leave, medical leave, pregnancy disability leave, CFRA/FMLA, EDD disability/Paid Family Leave, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work documentation.

Assist employees and supervisors with HR questions related to policies, benefits, timekeeping, payroll changes, and general employment matters.

Support payroll and timekeeping processes by reviewing employee status changes, wage changes, schedule updates, and HR-related payroll information.

Prepare HR documents such as offer letters, status change forms, employee notices, corrective action records, performance improvement plans, separation documents, and internal memos.

Track required employee education, annual training, policy acknowledgments, and compliance deadlines.

Assist leadership with employee relations documentation, attendance follow-up, performance concerns, and workplace conduct matters.

Support employee engagement, retention, recognition, and workplace culture initiatives.

Maintain confidentiality of employee, payroll, medical, and company information at all times.

Perform other HR, administrative, compliance, and People Operations duties as assigned.

Required qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in human resources, People Operations, payroll support, healthcare administration, office administration, or a related role.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and HR/payroll systems.

Ability to maintain accurate employee records, documents, spreadsheets, and tracking systems.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate professionally with employees, applicants, supervisors, leadership, vendors, and outside agencies.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, interruptions, and confidential matters in a busy office environment.

Strong attention to detail and follow-through.

Ability to understand and apply company policies consistently.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Reliable attendance, punctuality, and professional presentation.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion.

Preferred qualifications:

Prior HR experience in healthcare, home health, hospice, or another regulated healthcare setting.

Experience with Paycom or another HRIS/payroll system.

Knowledge of California employment practices and leave programs, including CFRA, FMLA, PDL, sick leave, workers’ compensation, EDD disability, and Paid Family Leave.

Experience with recruitment, onboarding, personnel file maintenance, employee compliance tracking, and benefits support.

Experience tracking employee licenses, certifications, CPR, TB testing, background checks, annual education, and other healthcare compliance requirements.

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.

PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification preferred but not required.
