Join us in empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism. Damar is looking for a talented and motivated Controller to join our team. The Controller plays a critical leadership role in overseeing accounting and revenue cycle operations at Damar Services. Reporting to the CFO, this position drives financial reporting, ensures regulatory compliance, and delivers insights that support organizational strategy. The Controller leads through others, strengthens processes, and helps guide financial decision-making across the organization. Where would I be working?
This role is located on our main residential campus in the Welcome Center (6067 Decatur Blvd, Indianapolis, IN) and is based fully on-site.

Oversees the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with organizational policies
Oversees and ensures the timely and accurate completion of the month-end and year-end close processes
Leads the accounting and revenue cycle teams through direct management of department leaders, ensuring strong performance, accountability, and team development
Assists with and coordinates the annual budgeting process across programs and departments
Prepares timely and accurate financial statements and reports for the CFO and leadership on a monthly basis
Prepares and submits required financial reports to external entities, including regulatory agencies and auditors
Leads and coordinates the annual financial audit and supports other audits or reviews as needed
Coordinates and prepares data required for annual cost reports, including Medicaid and other applicable funding sources
Monitors and analyzes financial and statistical data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
Provides financial projections, insights, and recommendations to support leadership decision-making
Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to financial operations
Stays current on regulatory and accounting standard changes impacting the organization
Develops and delivers financial training and guidance to managers and operational leaders
Reviews and audits accounting processes and data to ensure accuracy and strengthen internal controls
Partners with the CFO on strategic initiatives, process improvements, and financial planning activities
Evaluates and improves accounting systems, processes, and workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Participates in organizational committees or cross-functional teams, as needed
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive financial and organizational information in accordance with applicable laws and policies
Promotes a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
Supports quality and compliance initiatives, including identifying issues, reporting concerns, and implementing improvements

What you need to be considered:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting or finance experience required
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, including oversight of managers or supervisors required
Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, or multi-entity environments preferred
Ability to think critically, analyze complex issues, and develop effective, data-driven solutions
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
Successfully complete a pre-employment physical
Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening
Essential Job Functions:
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
